Texans Cut 3 Players
Well so much for that #3 QB competition as Alex Brink was released by the team. Also released were T Doug Dedrick and P Justin Brantly. Looks like Sexy Rexy is safe for now but Kubes hasn't been holding three quarter backs on the active roster since he got here. Maybe with The Schaub going down to injury the last couple of years he wants to be a little more cautious? Unlike many on the board I actually like having Rex on the roster. He may not be a guy who can come in and play every down all 16 weeks of the season but is much better than most back-ups (not to mention #3 QB's) in the league.

I’m not a Turk fan either. I really, really wanted us to bring in competition for him LAST off-season. A great punter is an incredibly valuable weapon… but there aren’t really a lot of “great” ones out there. Turk is above average, I think, but next year I hope we go in a different direction.

im not even sure hes average
what were his numbers? just from watching games it looked like his punts were only going 40 yards max…his accuracy was good but not lots of power…the only thing i like about turk is he does s cool thing with the football (like dribbles it) he throw it down a certain way tha it pop back right to u…
also i like him bcz, hes frends with lots of people i know and have heard hes a real good guy…so im cheering for him but not really…

Punting is all about hang time in the NFL, if a team had to choose between a guy booting 50 yard punts consistently and another punting 40 yarders with a full second longer of a hang time, they’re going to go with the latter pretty much every time. I don’t know a whole lot about Brantley, but i’ve heard that he had a big leg but his biggest knock was that he had a habbit of line driving kicks a bit. Having a punter with a 40-45 yard punt, good hang time, and excellent accuracy isn’t really all that bad. What you’re losing in the initial kick you’re making up for and then some in the net punt average.

I think Rex will make roster
Here is why,
1 Kub has said he would consider a 3rd after past Schaub fragility.
2. Kub has kept a QB on the practice squad in the past “just in case” I believe that Brink was no longer eligible for the PS.
3. If Dan walks out the back of the end zone again or generally flakes out, they have someone they can shove in a game an be sure there not going to just give it away being stupid.
