Owen Daniels and Rick Smith: Who's Chicken?
Thanks to marroncito for bringing this to my attention. How tough are Rick Smith and Bob McNair willing to get if OD hasn't signed his tender by June 15th?

Also think they'll get it done...
They’ve gotta be working on this as we speak, right? I mean, A). we wouldn’t want to piss him off (run him off) by lowering his offer to that silly one year amount, and B). the restricted offer is too damn much to be paying him on a one year deal.
Dammit, why haven’t we figured out a way to bug Smith’s phone yet???
If there’s a second in his day that he’s not working on Demeco or Owen’s contract, someone should slap the taste out of his pants!

Just a scenario.
We tend to look to deeply into everything in the offseason. We look at every spontaneous reaction Kubiak has to any given question sandwiched in a barrage of others and try to determine what it means for our starting roster.
Its the offseason. it is ok to do that.
This is much like that. There is no “chicken” being played. There is not anything whatsoever to indicate that there is.
There is simply a scenario somebody thought of when considering the situation. Mere speculation. A total “what if?”. And we’re so hungry for news and so antsy to get the season underway that this kind of thing finds itself into every Texans discussion site and takes on a life of its own – likely never having had a real foundation to begin with.

I Don't Necessarily Disagree
The chances of it ever happening are miniscule. But knowing that it’s a possible tactic available to Rick Smith at least merits discussion, doesn’t it?
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
