BREAKING NEWS: Texans Re-Sign Jeff Zgonina
Per John McClain, your Houston Texans re-signed Jeff Zgonina this afternoon. What does this mean? Probably nothing, as it seems the impetus for the new deal was purely the unavailability of Travis Johnson and Amobi Okoye. Someone needs to play defensive tackle during training camp.
Zgonina may well just be a camp body, but here's me wishing that he blows the coaching staff away, commands a roster spot, and ends the painful nightmare that has been the Travis Johnson Era in H-Town. That would instantly make Zgonina one of my favorite Texans of all time.

Zgonina is pushing 40. The only big break he could have would involve his bones…TJ is and always will be better than this guy.
Rather than re-signing this washed up, age-old, 7th round draft pick I would have much rather the Texans plug the hole with a flier on some young hot shot college grad that couldn’t find a team in the draft. At least that guy might have a chance of potential. Neither would have made the team, so this post is pointless, but damn if the off season aint boring.

I'd Like To Agree With You
But at this point, they probably need somebody they can plug into the spot. Plus, if they think Travis and Amobe snuck off to smoke one behind the tool shed instead of rehabbing, they can send Zgonina out to knock their heads together.
Coincidentally
Zgonina played for Bill Kollar in 1996 in Atlanta, and in St. Loius from 2000 to 2003.
