BREAKING NEWS: Brian Cushing Signs
Image via www.chron.com
Via Pancakes at the Chron. H/t Eric (yes, really).
Terms not disclosed, and Brian Cushing is the last one to sign.
The front page of the Chron (not Pancakes' write-up) says that Cushing is expected to compete for the job at SLB, which is kinda like saying I'm expected to finish the entire beer. Not only is the job Cushing's to lose, we need him to immediately step in and be a difference maker.
Edit: And h/t Rip Jersey. When it takes 25 minutes to post something because you've got kids jumping on you, sometimes the timing gets off.

No prob
I was just waiting for an excuse to post that vid of Cush breaking the gym record for benching 225…. I have high hopes that this kid will make a positive difference on the Texans.
It will happen
I get goose bumps....
When I think of how good this draft class may be. Seems like every player has a dynamic to them that other teams don’t have.
However, I do understand that I’m looking through Maniacal, battlered colored glasses:)
I’m just so freaking pumped about this season!!!
GO TEXANS!!!!
This is the year.......
Dang...
I can’t find the video now, but there’s a Brian Cushing “highlights” post on youtube. Nearly every tackle is made from behind by grabbing onto the players pads and jumping aboard. It’s atrocious tackling technique, something I despise after watching UT struggle to tackle for years. His poor lower body strength is also of concern to me.
We are going to rely on him to cover TEs when he even lacked in coverage skills at the college level. Diles was absolutely eaten alive last year (ranked 87th last year), and he could supposedly hang in coverage.
Add on the steroid accusations, and I am having serious Tony Mandarich flashbacks. I’m more than happy for him to prove me wrong, and I’ll definitely withhold judgment for a couple of years (on the negative, I should qualify). If he can improve his tackling technique, handle his assignments, and cover the TE? I’ll chug the kool-aid and admit I was wrong.
Great to get all of the picks signed in a timely fashion once again
This is one area where the Texans have always been very proficient. I refuse to say anything negative at this time of the year. I too am pumped up just like Texanmaniac at the prospects of a meaningful season, so I truly hope that Cushing’s play proves that I am a dumbass at evaluating college football players.
GO TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!
