Dominique Barber promoted to 1st team!
Dominique Barber was promoted to the Texans' first-team defense at strong safety during Tuesday's practice.
Coach Gary Kubiak wouldn't call it permanent, but it most likely is. Incumbent Nick Ferguson lacks Barber's run-stopping and big-play ability. Ideally, the 34-year-old Ferguson will be a third safety and spot starter in case of injury.Source: houstontexans.com

I really like this kid. I think he is gonna be a big part of our future and I hope Veterans like last year Will Demps, and this year Eugene Wilson can teach him a few things...

hmmmmm
Well, it’s probably for the best. But this might make Barber the slowest safety this side of Roy Williams…the one who didn’t go to UT.
Yes, being Captain BringDown. Sorry.
ummmmm....thanks? ;-)
While we’ll be able to sneak Barber into the box against pro- and I-formations, I think he’ll be exposed on passing plays.
OK probably so
And I know that you have a firm grasp of the 4-3 Under. But let’s wait and see how exactly our team decides to use the 4-3 Under. There are sure to be tweaks here and there. At least, I’d hope so.
Seriously, though, there’s no harm in criticism.
This is news, but I don't know if it's necessarily good news.
We need a real play-maker at safety.
Here’s hoping we have no shot at Taylor Mays or Eric Berry in the 2010 draft, but maybe the 3rd safety off the board can be ours.
