Saints Vent Thread

Sorry for the delay as I meant to have this up earlier, but it's been a busy day in the bfd household including my first fantasy draft of the year.

Here's the Game Page on NFL.com.  This game was uglier than me wrasslin' Rosie naked in a vat of Vaseline with sand thrown in.

Let it all hang out below.

HDTV Quality

I figure we should just start from the first thing that was off about last nights game. ABC13 has been the official television network of the Houston Texans since our inception but it is time to get a new network or demand higher quality for the fans of this team. It is bad enough watching a team get continously spanked but to not be able to read the player names or the scoreboard is down right pathetic. I don’t have a 58" Plasma for nothing, Texans need to fix this problem. Looking around the league I see no other broadcasts as crappy as ours.

YES

Agree completely. The chiefs game was just as bad.

On top of that, it took them forever to put the “2nd and 8” or whatever stat on the screen. And the yellow first down line didn’t seem to come out until the second quarter.

Oh and about the game: FUCK.

HA!

No shit. I found myself clicking to the Skins/Steelers game quite a bit because of the poor feed. And the KNVA feed in Austin kept flickering off. Horrible.

And I do so wish O-Sak-Po would’ve fallen to us. That guy’s a monster.

Note to self: Insert something witty here.

They're easily

The worst network in Houston. But I’m kind of glad I didn’t have to see us imploding up close and personal in 1080p. At least it’s the preseason. I did think David Anderson looked good. Orlovsky makes me miss Rosenfels, and Schaub just seemed a little off last night.

I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT HAPPENED IN THE GAME...

BECAUSE IT WAS BEING BROADCAST IN SOME 1950’s RETRO BULLSHIT FORMAT.

FUCK YOU ABC 13!

COME JOIN THE REST OF US IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY!

NFL Network

Is re-airing the game right now (Midnight-3:00am). The quality is amazingly better, for some reason I don’t have a headache yet. It is about to come though because right now the game is tied 7-7, LOL! So Saints fans get a better feed than we do too… ABC 13 sucks!

I was going to make some comments about the game but it was so fucking horrible that I am honestly going to turn this shit off because I can’t make myself watch it. Coaches don’t get paid enough, hahaha… or maybe some of them get paid way to much after a horrible performance like that!

If it's any consolation...

Apparently Petey got torched repeatedly and added a couple penalties for old time’s sake.

I noticed no change

Compared to last year, this team looks the same: unable to stop anybody (especially against the run), unable to run the ball on third and short, unable to convert third downs, and poor, poor coaching.

Gary Kubiak sucks as a head coach. Some people say he’s a great motivator and good with the players. Really? Like these people are on the team and can tell as much through the tv screen? I saw a really unmotivated team on tv. Kubiak makes dreadful game managment decisions. He challenged his way out of a much needed sack by Mario Williams on Saturday. So, Mario gets a sack and they call back the fumble recovery. Before the challenge flag is thrown, I’m like “Don’t challenge that?!” The Saints weren’t going to challenge because they felt lucky to get the ball back and it looked like a sack. But you don’t challenge a sack when the opposing quarterback is doing all that hand waving while being tackled. Apparently, Kubiak doesn’t watch as much football as the average fan. Otherwise, he’d have seen the tuck rule in the snow game. You can invariably bet against Kubiak on challenges. It was a bad challenge and that’s why I just knew he would do it. He has this greedy arrogance about the way he goes about it. There’s a blind spot there. He’s had one of the worst records in challenges in the league the past two years. Challenges, time outs, managing game time, and game planning…

The game planning on defense is average to terrible every game. You know you’re not going to see a great game plan, such as an early attempt to take away the runs up the middle given that their guards are one of the Saints’ strengths. There’s just no ability to anticipate and strategize there. Despite everybody’s excitement at the change in defensive coordinator, the effect appears to be no change. I questioned this internal change to Frank Bush because if he could be that much more effective, why wasn’t he effective last year? He was on the staff. Did anyone catch the pre-game b.s. with three former Texans like Coleman and Sharper? Did anyone else notice them struggle to come up with anything constructive to say about the “we’re going to promote a more aggressive defense this year” question? So they just say “be more aggressive” and therefore the players do exactly what? Get blocked more aggressively? Being aggressive starts with the game plan. And I don’t see that happening.

I know it’s just preseason, but I left off on Saturday night with a bad taste of 6-10 in my mouth.

The true test in the life of a Texans fan is how gracefully you endure it.
