"reports"
Didn’t see much and need to go put the kids to bed.
Football Outsiders: Cletis Gordon was a cornerback, wide receiver, and kick returner at Jackson State. He’s a size-speed prospect who could get a look as a gunner and return specialist
TSN: Cletis Gordon is a No. 5 cornerback. And while his shiftiness and explosiveness make him an ideal kick returner, the Chargers have plenty of those, too. Just in his second year, he is affordable and under the team’s control through at least ’08. But his roster spot is in jeopardy because the team has an abundance of linebackers and just simply might not need him. He would have a better chance to contribute regularly elsewhere.
Note to self: Insert something witty here.
Witnessed Today
Rick Smith stood in the team parking lot at the Texans practice facility, eyeballing the beaten-up Plymouth Gran Fury pulling into the parking lot. The car sported Georgia plates, and it was obvious, this vehicle had been a police probably thirty years ago. The car pulled into a parking space, and an elderly white man jumped out proclaiming, “You must be Rick! I’m your new CB!….”
well after reading this
he doesnt seem like such a bad player…just another CB we have…

Not that I expect him to make the team...
But I thought we were pretty deep at CB, all things considered. This doesn’t doesn’t exactly speak volumes about Bennett, Molden, and McCain.
i think he might make the team
seems like a solid player just effort problems…sounds like hes got potential…
But yea, we got lots of CB’S, D-Rob, Reeves, Bennett, Quin, Molden, Mccain, (Pittman? Gordon?)

The guy who should be sweating this move is Jacoby Jones
Cletis is also a punt returner
It will happen
charger fan here
Cletis has tons of potential.
i was suprised he got cut.
he has all the skills he just never seemed to put it all together.
he seems to lack confidence, he has all the capability but just isnt physical and doesnt believe in himself enough.
he could be a really solid corner if he can put it together.
Welcome, Cameron
Cletis sounds like several other young CBs on our roster in that he’s got skills and can be solid if he puts it together. He should fit right in.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
Sounds like the CB version of JJ
and I’d rather have JJ.
Here’s his Rotoworld page:

The San Diego paper says he was released due to his “lack of Physicality” on special teams.
The Chargers had also signed the guy to a $1.4 Million deal, This April. Not a good sign they let him go.
I doubt this guy will make an impact.

Injury prone offense!
Defense with bigger holes than Paris Hilton!
Special teams with the ability to miss five tackles in a single bound!
AND NOW!!
A guy named CLETIS!
Finally, our image around the league will improve!!

What you need to know about Cletis Gordon
-He has good size and good speed.
-Although he may have been a punt returner in college, he never did it with the Chargers, so it’s anybody’s guess how good he’d be at it.
-He is very inconsistent. He may make a great play once, but it’s usually followed by him getting beaten badly more than once. The Steelers recognized this last year and picked on him mercilessly when he was on the field.
-You do not want him playing CB all the time. He’s a 5th CB and backup punt returner in this league.
