Jacques Reeves Out 6-8 Weeks With Broken Leg, FML

Apparently, your Houston Texans projected starting corner Jacques Reeves is out 6-8 weeks with a broken leg that happened during training camp on Monday. He tried to bat away a ball headed for Andre Davis and landed awkwardly. It shouldn't require surgery

Your two starting corners at this very second are Fred Bennett and Brice McCain, as Quin is out with a lower leg bruise (though he should return soon). This will get the younger guys a lot of reps and may give sleeper Mark Parson a chance to make the team. It also gives Dunta more negotiating leverage.

In other news, Zac Diles was found with a contagious strain of what is informally known as "breakyourleginpractice-itis". It is being studied by the training staff now to prevent other random broken legs to players on the team.

Pacman

Is there a chance the Texans will look at and make an effort to acquire Jones?

Doubt it

Bob tends to avoid criminals. I would bet Dunta gets an undeserved long term contract before they take a shot at a guy about to go back on trial for attempted murder.

I don't think that' flawed logic

But Dunta can’t get a long term deal this year because he passed the July 15th deadline to sign his franchise tender. If he plays this year, it will have to be under the franchise tag.

You know... for kids.

Very correct

My bad.

Then forget what I said, and replace it with, “Very, very small”

On the flip side

He could use this as leverage to get the Texans to agree not to franchise him again. Just a thought.

Word

I wasn’t impressed with Pacman after his return to Dallas, but if Houston is looking for depth and competition at that position, then he might be a good option. Replace one former Cowboy corner with another and give him a shot against the Titans twice.

Son of a mother effin....

Glover is probably CB2 today instead of McCain. Maybe Molden.

Eff.

by bigfatdrunk on Aug 4, 2009 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

I said that

because Glover is still injured, technically the person at the top of the depth chart is McCain.

Isn't Molden on the PUP?

Yes

Also, I never thought I’d say this… but I’m kinda sad Frenchy is injured. Our secondary is scary young.

Adios Phobia

The fear of starting rookies when one’s career is on the line (PLEASE) might have to be faced and nonchalantly ignored.

“YOU *(&^%$#$% HAVE HAD ONE SLOPPY PRACTICE AFTER ANOTHER! HEY YOU OVER THERE IN THE WHEEL CHAIR NUMBER 26, WHY CAN’T YOU STICK WITH ANDRE JOHNSON”

it’s time ya’ll grow some callouses and get those crutches in motion…

This brings to light how lucky we were with injuries last year

When compared to the two years before.

Ugh.

he was injured batting a ball???

That can’t be right. Frenchie hasn’t batted a ball in his life. Get your facts straight and re-post this story.

hilarious

but if you read it again, it is plausible, because he didn’t mention the use of his hands. So he may have “tried to” bat it away with his now broken leg.

Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.
