First Round of Cuts - Down to 75
Gary Kubiak just announced four cuts on Texans TV. These are:
- CB David Pittman
- WR Mike Jones
- OT Jason Watkins
- Finally, sadly, CB Cletis Gordon
I haven't really changed my stance on my final 53-man roster, and there are very few roster battles going on, though Kubiak did mention there are some position battles still up in the air, including WLB.

I thought
That Adibi played lights out last night. I know that he’s not in danger of getting cut which is what this post was about, but I was happy when I finally got to see the game about 5 hours late.
Oh, and that roughing the passer call was the worst of it’s kind I have ever seen.

Kubiak
During the presser, Kubiak specifically called out Adibi saying he played poorly and had a lot to lose while Diles was “holding up his end” of the bargain.
Note to self: Insert something witty here.

I'm cool with Adibi or Diles
at WLB, but I like the way Adibi plays.
The “had a lot to lose” was referring to the starting wlb job, right? When Cushing comes back.

Adibi is the one who screwed the pooch on AP’s 75 yarder. I thought he made a few good plays. The non-roughing the passer was a nice play, got a hand on a Favre pass(or Favre hit him with it I’m not sure)…overall though, he was pretty crappy IMO. Diles was too if you ask me. I think Kubiak is trying to motivate both of them….thinks Diles needs a pat on the back to pick him up and Adibi needs a kick in the ass.

In my defense
I didn’t see the AP 76 yard run. If Adibi was to blame though, point taken. I really wish I had gotten to see it live, instead of several hors after the fact when I was trying to stay awake.
There were a couple of other decent adibi plays that I saw though.

Roster Cuts
Seems to me that there may not be as much drama as in years past. The one notable exception is Jacoby Jones. Does he stay or does he go?
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

last year
there were more rumblings around this time, I think. And he was getting all the returns to give him enough rope.
I see him getting a lot of action, but I don’t hear the footsteps as loudly. But nobody else returned a punt, so if they have a backup plan, they sure aren’t concerned about his ability.
I say he’s stayin, for his versatility.

No one else returned one Monday...
but other people returned some during the other preseason games. JJ had 2 returns for 2 yards IIRC on Monday night. That doesn’t exactly scream “roster spot” if Kubes thinks anyone else on the team can handle the duties. Apparently, merely not fumbling has people liking JJ again. Odd.
Yay, sports.

What If Sage Is Cut?
Would you send Dan O packing and resign Sage? I have to say that I would. Dan O may have a lot of potential, but he’s shown a propensity to bad decision making.

As opposed to Sage?

Whupps.
Wouldn’t really need to cut Dan-O for that. He’s a better 3rd-QB than Grossman or Alex Brink. He’s looked bad so far this preseason, but he’s also made a few really nice throws. The goal is for him to never see the field this year of course (except in week 17 when we’ve locked up home-field advantage and we’re resting our starters, right?). But I still don’t think it was a bad signing, and certainly not cut-worthy.

The Texans aren’t paying Dan-O that much to be the third QB and never would.

Chopper aside
If Sage were to become available/affordable, bringing him back would be a no-brainer… IMO.

Like, a no brainer NOT to, right?

WHY?
Good God… Why in the world would we do that???

Because...
Right now, Shaub’s pussy hurts. And the other two quarterbacks don’t strike fear in anyone…including Texans fans (well, maybe a little, but not as much as Rosencopter). :)
The true test in the life of a Texans fan is how gracefully you endure it.

Still pissed we didn't take VY, huh?
You may wanna think about getting over it, dude.

I would rather...
be violated by a porcupine than bring him back to this team. Sage was mediocre while he was here, but benefited from short memories (i.e. people forgetting that he sucked initially in the almost-comeback against Tenn) and the hype that comes when a backup wins a couple games. Kubiak turned him into a valuable commodity (somehow), which I assume he thinks he can do with Orlo should the opportunity present itself. There is NO need to bring Sage back. None.
Yay, sports.

Thought about RB
The Patriots have five RB’s with some talent and potential in Fred Taylor, Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk, Benjarvus Green-Ellis and Sammy Morris. It is quite possible they put Morris on IR to start the season, which would dismiss this thought. But, the thought is, they may cut or be trading one of them. Granted, some of them bring injury issues. I’m thinking that one of them may have some real value to the Texans, if healthy and made available. I don’t think the Texans can be satisfied with what they have beyond Slaton, Brown and Moats.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
