I don't know which I love more...

Texans first W of the season, or Titans at 0-2.

Christmas in September, in any event.

I like that the Patriots lost to the Jets, too

Perspective

The Pats loss to the Jets, I think, says something pretty significant about the quality of the Jets defense that whooped us last week. I’m saying the Jets defense is notably better than our offense was bad. We weren’t prepared for the Jets, and we didn’t adjust effectively, true, but it wasn’t all on us. We faced a D better than we, or Belichick, estimated.

Wow

I don’t know where to start… The Jets beating the Patriots made me feel better about last week but at the same time the Pats haven’t looked that great so far this season. The last game of the year might be a competitve one after all (I hope so at least).

Andre Johnson owns Cortland Finnegan and the Titans. What a game.

Our defense was horrible overall but really tightened up in the second half. Cushing looked great. I think the Cushing haters need to re-think that position because the guy looks like a leader out on that football field to me.

Last but not least, I think that 94.5 The Buzz owes Houstonians an apology for jumping ship and making their network all about the Cowboys this week. They took our horrible loss and made it worse by building up the Cowboys. I am now officially done w/ Rod Ryan and the rest of the poser fans on that radio station.

Christmas in September is exactly what this feels like… Go Texans!

Titans at 0-2… Priceless

Texans beating the heavily favored Titans in Nashville… Priceless!!

MNF against the Titans later this year… WOW, that game is going to be intense.

I'll man up here too - absolutely hated the pick at the time

but truly love the way he has played in the 1st two games. He looks to be a future leader out there. His speed and intensity really helped us win today. Huge ups for Cush.

Anyone have the fight replay?

I think I saw Mario throw some punches. I hope not, because we may see some suspensions tomorrow once the league reviews.

I saw him over and over on my DVR throwing one… I think players should get fined not suspended though.

Its going to happen, the ONLY question is fine or suspension. Or both.

Wow, WTH is happening here?

Not sure.

Okay, under control now.

I haven’t read any of the game threads, but I’m sure the emotions were all over the place. A lot of big plays, gaffs by the defense, but overall, the team never gave up. In the end, the ball bounced the Texans way and Zgonina, deservedly so, as payback for all his hard work, comes up with the pot ’o gold!

Great win! Lot’s of emotions with this game, is my bottom line comment!

That doesnt make sense

Correct me if im wrong, but if we franchised Dunta this year doesnt that make him a free agent next year. I dont know if it would be restricted or unrestricted but either way it makes this a contract year for him and knowing him he would do more than just show up to collect his dough cause he wants to collect his paycheck next year too.

I can only speculate

…but he has his money for this season. The $10 million is a lock as part of the franchise tag. The Texans can cut him for detrimental behavior or being a defensive liability, but they’re still on the hook for the $10 mil.

If he suffers another debilitating injury, his career is over. No paycheck next season or any other. That is his fear. Even if he dogs it this season and hurts his value for next season, he will still have a value much greater than zero.

Befuddled is the word I think of

It befuddles me to see that you recognize what few, who call themselves true fans, recognize. There are many that expect perfection. That will never happen. The rarity that a team wins all it’s games is about as likely as the stars, moons and planets aligining, and what are the chances of that. I wish more fans would see the good of this team and just root for them. Sure! Don’t stop analyzing them. Reflection is good. But, too much focusing on faults and too little on the unity of the team brings on a lot of frustration. This IS a good team! This team showed that they can bounce back. They showed that they can overcome their faults. They showed that even THEY can be the recipient of an occasional bouncing ball. They HAVE what it takes. They have youth. They have athleticism. They have quality leadership. As this season goes along, the fans just need to get behind this team and root for them. I’m sure the Texans will respond! This team does not have to play a perfect game to win. They have proven that. Give this team the support it deserves!

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

I am a fan of this team rain or shine

Whether they go 0-16 or 16-0. But that doesn’t mean that I automatically think they are good. It’s ok to be critical of them. For example I still believe that, unless our defense gets better fast, we’re still an 8-8 team. Doesn’t make me any less of a fan – it’s just my honest assessment.

However, we are Texans fans, which makes us a bit like beaten dogs. That’s why there’s so much pessimism here.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

by tehGrindCrusher on Sep 21, 2009 1:53 AM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

My point exactly....and rec'd for common sense ...

…and not being a sheeple.

I love this team. But I am critical of them. As a football fan I recognize that while the Texans did alot of good things yesterday, they also did some amazingly stupid things as well.

For instance, maybe you should go ahead and cover ALL the receivers on the field, especially if they are Chris Johnson.

This team has great potentail, but I am unwilling to crown them Division winners like some people here just yet. It is a long season, and you aren’t going to win many games by letting yourself get down 21-7 in the first quarter.

Now that being said, the Texans did what we have been waiting for them to do. That is, they played a full four quarters at full speed. If you hang around for four quarters in the NFL, anything is possible.

Can they keep it up? I hope so.

Biggest stat for this game....

ZERO TURNOVERS! We almost had one and we all know which one and I think that one turnover if it had happened could have cost us the game. We did not make mistakes on offense. We couldn’t run but that turned out not to hurt us. The one thing that would have killed us would have been tunrovers (or just one). We won by not turning it over. Now that being said someone please give Slaton some super glue before the next game starts – he can’t seem to hold on to the ball for some reason.

I think the potential capabilities of the Texans might still be a lot clearer to you, than to the average fan, here in Houston. But more performances like this one will help turn the tide.

I would love to have VY

Playing QB on MNF because he will just get killed and throw like 4 pics. Please bring him back! I know you have to take out like 2/3 of your offence for him. But he can surely hand off to CJ on a 3rd down draw play, which is the main thing that worked for the Titans this week.
