Chester Pitts to Injured Reserve; Done For Season
Sadly, we might have seen the last of Pitts in a Texans uniform. Kasey Studdard needs to pick up the slack in a hurry.

that sucks
This is the NFL though, things like this happen to every team. Hopefully Pitts makes it back and Studdard steps up and plays well. I think it is time to give Caldwell a shot (preferably at center). Pitts has been excellent for the Texans, I really hope he is able to make it back.
I'd really like to see Caldwell take over at Center
and Myers move over to Guard. When Denver drafted Myers, it was as a G. He only took over for C because Nalen got injured. I think our O-line would be much improved if Caldwell could step up and Myers could move over to G.

Microfracture?
How the hell does he go in to get his knee scoped, and he comes out of it with microfracture surgery?
Since when is microfracture “standard” surgery for a player? Just a couple of years ago, it was a huge decision to have that done. Were there no other options? Just weird.

super friendly guy...
my kids were stunned when I told them, they thought he was funny.
GO TEXANS!!!!
This is the year.......
The Cornerstone...
of the franchise. Consummate professional and was witty in his stints on the Ellen Degeneres Show. It’s sad to see this happen to a guy who has played every game for this franchise.
If anyone knows about the frustrations of the Texans, it’s Chester.
Studdard is a more than serviceable lineman and I think this could be the end for Chester should Studdard play well. It’s sad to see it end like this if that’s the case, but maybe the rest of the Texans will be inspired to play for something more than just a playoff spot if the man who has played every franchise game never suits up in the Steel Blue again.
Very sad.

Texans Pitts Dealing With Reality

HOUSTON – Houston Texans guard Chester Pitts has come to grips with the fact his season is over and so is his magnificent streak of having played in every game in franchise history.
Pitts underwent major surgery on his right knee Wednesday and was placed on injured reserve, which means he will not play again this year.
Pitts suffered the injury Sunday in the Texans win over the Titans. He had played in 114 consecutive games, which will officially end Sunday.
“I had to come to terms with it,” Pitts said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports Thursday. "It really kind of hit me (Wednesday) when I woke up.
“(Team) Dr. (Walter) Lowe was explaining to me everything that went on and (Texans General Manager) Mr. (Rick) Smith came by just to check on me and let me know what the next move was which is being on I.R.
“It was almost surreal. I worked hard for that streak, I really did. I’ve had my twists and turns. I’ve been very blessed through it all. It’s a part of the game and I just have to roll with the punches.”
Pitts is one of two remaining original Texans. The other is placekicker Kris Brown.
Pitts is in the final year of his contract and is certain his career will continue and he wants it to continue in Houston.
“I understand it completely,” Pitts said. "Life is a business. It honestly is.
“I definitely and surely would prefer if I ever have to get it injured for it not be in my contract year, but by the same token I do my best to look at the positive of it all.”
And Pitts is looking at the glass as half-full, rather than half- empty.
“I have a real chance at it healing up and (the surgery) really being a success and my knee being 95 percent of the 100 percent that it was,” Pitts said. "In this business when you have a big injury like I’ve had, to be able to come back 95 to 100 percent of where you are, that’s really a blessing.
“I will get my shot.”
Then Pitts thinks of his teammates and the Texans fans.
“Granted the biggest negative is that I won’t be out there with the guys,” Pitts said. "I feel like I’m letting my teammates down.
“I feel like I’m letting the fans down because I won’t be out there doing my job on Sunday.”
Texans General Manager Rick Smith is confident his star player will be back on the football field in the not-too-distant-future.
“The surgery was a successful one in the sense that it’s the right thing and the best thing for him long term,” Smith said."I think he’s proven that he’s got good DNA and good genes.
I’m pretty confident Chester is going to come off of this and have more productive football in his future."
