oh sweet sweet vindication. I let the big win over the titans sink in over the course of the week. It still feels good. The Texans pretty much took everything the trolls said about them and turned the tables around. Oh ye of little faith, how I smite thee. They arent physical enough. They arent aggressive. They dont hit hard. They dont have any heart. They suck on the road. They showed all of these things against the titans. Oh they still made plenty of mistakes. They still have weak areas, and things of concern. No doubt about that. But for once they won on pure heart. They collectively decided, we are not going to start off slow again, we are not going to get pushed around. We are going to get punched in the mouth and then get up and hit them back with twice the force. I knew that my continued faith in the team was justified by one single action in that game. In the 4th quarter I saw Andre Johnson grab Cortland Finnegan and toss him to the dirt. I knew RIGHT THEN things were different. This team wants it more this year.
So here we go heading into a week 3 matchup we are supposed to win. Of course those are the ones that bite you in the ass. The dreaded letdown game. I have confidence though, because whoever scheduled the battle red nights this year was a pure genius. We always play awesome in those reds, and this couldnt have been a more needed time for a morale boost, right when a letdown from a big game is most probable. I said it last week, they lost one they were supposed to win in week 1, then they stole one they were supposed to lose in week 2. We are back even again. Time to start the season off properly taking care of the Jags with some of that heart we showed last weekend.
My self imposed posting ban on the club forums continues. Although I would love to watch the trolls twist in the wind after proclaiming the team dead on arrival, I will stay my tongue for the end with it will be that much sweeter. All I can say is Homers 1 - Haters 1. Its a long season trolls, bring your A game.
