Pass interference?  ORLY?

fuck the defense

I’d like to blame the ref for losing the game, but if we are honest, our defense was so damn terrible, thats why we were in that position to begin with.

I'm solutions oriented.

Need to bite bullett and enquire about DT’s. I would be willing to part with a high draft pick for a proven player. We would most likely waste the pick anyways, ask Browns if they would be willing to deal Shaun Rogers.

many reasons

To begin with – the Houston Texans DID NOT deserve to win this game, so my ranting is mostly just me venting.

but…….

1. WHY THE FUCK ARE WE HANDING OFF TO CHRIS BROWN AND NOT STEVE SLATON?!?!? (This is not the year to be named “Chris Brown” obviously… we should have known bad things would happen)

2. What’s with the pass interference… them not seeing that Brown got across the goalline… or the “defenseless WR” calls? All were total bullshit.

3. Seriously… Chris Brown?!?!?

4. Our secondary got torched. Learn to tackle, people.

5. We still can’t get off the field on third down on defense. That was the whole game.

by grungedave on Sep 27, 2009 3:20 PM CDT reply actions

Because CB is a better goal line back than Slaton

Slaton was piss poor today as well, and only getting decent runs late in the 4th quarter on only 1 drive. He’s not consistent, and fumbles way more than Chris Brown. We have a poor running game, but to think that Chris Brown is the worst choice for that situation is just outlandish. He was the obvious choice. He just made a mistake. It happens.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

by kriess on Sep 27, 2009 3:41 PM CDT up reply actions

Agree

I really thought he was over the goal line, myself, but obviously he wasn’t. He may well have been down, though.

When I'm on the mic, I'm like global warming, you can't ignore me.

by tehGrindCrusher on Sep 27, 2009 3:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Slaton doesn't fumble enough to make it worth having a goal line back...

Unless that goal line back is ACTUALLY a goal line back.

Chris Brown is just a running back that they bring in at the goal line. He’s no short-yardage specialist.

- Rivers McCown, From Mom's Basement

by riversmccown on Sep 27, 2009 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

this

Chris Brown is a journeyman who is not a goalline specialist.

If you are going to lose, lose with your best players on the field.

by grungedave on Sep 27, 2009 4:48 PM CDT up reply actions

Dont play to lose with your best

You win with who has a better chance at getting the job done. Slaton isn’t that guy yet. He doesnt have the frame CB has, so it was smart to have CB run the play. The play that was called wasn’t the best choice, but it would have gotten the job done.

Like I said before, fumbles happen.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

by kriess on Sep 28, 2009 10:23 AM CDT up reply actions

what?

Chris Brown has been criticized for 8 years for running too “upright” into the hole. That’s the LAST type of quality you want in a goalline runner.

Slaton is the man. He proved it last year. Give him the goddamn ball with the game on the line.

by grungedave on Sep 28, 2009 12:06 PM CDT up reply actions

lol

Aight man, chill.

I guess we’ll just agree to disagree.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

by kriess on Sep 28, 2009 3:52 PM CDT up reply actions

I agree to an extent

Chris Brown is not the labeled “goalline back” for Houston, however he is the BEST option for that package. No matter how you slice it, Slaton is not.

Get off your knees Greg, you're blowin' the game.

by kriess on Sep 28, 2009 10:20 AM CDT up reply actions

I blame offensive line and coaches.

The line doesn’t push defense off the ball near the goaline. And would it kill Koobs to try a jumbo package instead of 5 wide. Get another lineman like Butler in there, more Vonta Leach, or maybe even put Bulman or a defensive guy back there. Try and be physical instead of trying to outsmart the defense.

Did you watch the same game as I did?

The ball was fumbled by Brown b4 his knee was down and b4 it got to the goal line. Or did you not watch the replay? Not enough video to overturn that call. Sorry! Nice home coming for the texans! There were several calls by the refs that were terrible on both sides of the ball. But shit happens! Deal with it. What about when the texans were on defense and umpire in the defensive backfield basically stopped Jones-Drew from scoring a 4th touchdown? If the idiot ref wasn’t in the way, you know no one on the texans defense would have stopped Jones -Drew as he exhibited that earlier in the game! It was an exciting game and the Jags deserved to win on this particular Sunday!

by JAGMAN4EVA on Sep 28, 2009 11:00 AM CDT up reply actions

Ref being in the way

=/= a bad call against the Jags. In fact, I can’t think of a bad call against J’ville yesterday. (Though it’s entirely possible I’ve repressed them.) You know what would have been nice? A few holding calls while the Jag o-line was gangraping Mario.

Yay, sports.

At the end of the day the refs got it wrong and you can't minimize that

Other things that went wrong for the Texans:
—Our defense
—Our offensive play calling when we needed it most
—Our tackling
—Chris Brown fumbling downtown

On the plus side
—Everything else about our offense
—The return of Steve Slaton
—We did stop them on at least three or four third downs (yay!)
—Demeco/Diles/Cushing is better than what we had out there last year.
—The Titans lost.

Horrible call on the interference (among others) obviously

but I wanted to break the f-ing TV at some of the blown defensive plays. And WHY NOT LEACH pounding the ball in over the right side? Did everyone forget what f-ing fullbacks can accomplish with one or two decent O-linemen?

Very f-ing disappointed. VERY!

I want a running back / full back option offense and I want it NOW!

We're not that adept at Leach running the ball

On Goalline situations, we’re more of an Offset I formation with a lead fullback. The FB Blast play is good but we had to make more than just a couple inches. The RB needs momentum to help get thru the pile. Chris Brown was the best option and we failed to execute. It happens. Week 3 fellas. Lets step away from the ledge just a lil. We could still go 14-2. LMAO

After winning such a defenseless game last week

with the exception of a few stops when it counted (our defense sucked last week), to not be able to handle the winless Jags at home doesn’t bode well.

I honestly see 9 wins max out of this team. We need a great defensive improvement to win 7, but we’re so inconsistent we can’t pull off a 10 win season.

Smushiak will take us to the playoffs in 2009.

The sad thing is

Other than NT and the safeties, which we’ve never even bothered to fix, this defense is plenty talented.

This scheme is just awful. Overaggression at it’s finest. Frank Bush is to blitzes as the rest of Europe was to invading Russia. There is no reason for him to be employed. There was no reason for him to be hired in the first place.

If this defense just plays to its talent level

We would win a lot of games. And I mean we’d have an average defense.

Look forward to seeing what our new d coordinator can do for the 2011 season.

agree, the read and react defense under Richard Smith at least lowered the amount of those 50+ TD’s. It seems like they will happen every game. I think Frank Bush inexperience at being a d-cordinator has a big factor.

Many empty seats in upper level I sit in. And many people that I had seen for years were absent from their seats today. Thought Texans would make them sorry for missing, but their decision was validated by Texans preformance. I will be in my seat next week but expect more familiar faces to dissappear, and that saddens me.

arizona beats indy. im not going to say what all of those low life titans bloggers said like the refs lost us the game. they had a part but fuckin chris brown?!!!! slaton put on 10 pounds of muscle in off season and we dont use that. to me brown goes down easier than slaton. some positives were that okoye was getting penetration the majority of the game, the o line did a good job (if schaub got sacked its because he held on for 10 minutes), and walter was amazing. long list of negatives. some include us not being able to tackle worth shit, going against a bad, inexpeienced o-line and getting spat on by them, and getting few TFL’s and NO SACKS (f****n stay still garrard!!). and the fact that on any trick play we always bite on the fake. we r gna get torched against wildcat (miami) when we play against it.

eh.

after watching the tape…. some stuff i saw.
*fred bennett sucks ASS. i didnt realize how many 3rd down plays he gave up. on one, he sat on a phantom slant, while the guy ran a fade. good job dumb ass.

  • i like dunta. that strip was big game-ish. you can tell he’s getting his groove back, he also broke up a couple of passes, and he’s not leaving his feet as much. also, when they saluted the soldier segment, i saw him salute the guy from the field. that wont show up on any tape, but it was a classy move.
*our offense is excellent. but not built to go tit for tat. i swear, if we had reeves, we would have won.
no worries my BRB brothers. i said 12-4 so we’re still on pace. best we iron our problems out early, and come on strong at the end of the year. we were injury free this week, Mr. $$$ is still perfect for the season, and the Colts will LOSE tonight. plus U of H won. our guys played hard! the NFL is that kind of league, and wins are tough to come by week to week. we were there… so once d fixes their shit, we wont have to put up 30 plus every week. im not upset at the effort, and i look forward to beating the turd raiders next week.

There's the optimism

But I have to disagree on Dunta. The only reason he was in position to make that strip is because he was beaten so badly on the play in the first place that he happened to be in a good position for a strip. And for a guy who was supposed to be good against the run, he sure got the ever-living-shit juked out of him by MJD.

Nice touch on the salute, though.

upon further review...

you’re right. dunta sucked ASS as well. i watched the game back 3 times and every first fown they got on a 3rd down conversion was the result of a missed tackle. no how can you blame Bush for that? blame the secondary coach cuz this team is soft in the secondary! bring on bonecrusher!!! my optimism stems from the fact that last year we started 0-4 and finished 8-8. this year we are 1-2 and could have easily been 2-1. everyone knows what the problems are. we just gotta keep hangin around and make our push late, playing great ball at the end of the season. its okay to start slow… as long as u finish strong.

I blame Bush for going into the season

not knowing who his starters were. Do you see the Colts running players out there for try outs during regular season games? And if anyone needed to be removed in middle of game it was Fred Bennett. I saw Mccain and Quinn come out on field and saw D Rob and Bennett head for sideline. I thought coaches were going to send a message, but they just ran them back out there the next play.

What would be more enjoyable...

Continuing to be a fan of this bullshit franchise, dropping another few $K next year, and watching this shit 8 times a year…OR…

Just becoming a Saints fan, and going to NOLA to party and catch 3-4 games per year?

I’m being completely serious. Why do we put ourselves through this?

Also, my boy Boudreaux and I agree that if the Texans put the same amount of effort into winning football games as they do trying to create a family friendly atmosphere, they’d be in the playoffs every year.

AAAANNND…memo to those jackoffs in the Pep Band: when the team plays like shit and the entire fan base is pissed off beyond belief, there’s really no need for a post-game concert in Bud Plaza. Just pack up your fucking horns and drive back to whatever suburb from whence you came.

That Pep Band

make us look like a bunch of fuckin amateurs, its not a college game. And I can’t take anymore played out Clay Walker shit, or cheerleaders with Shania Twain

Honestly, we can get teams in 3rd and long . . .

But we can’t keep them from converting. We need a safety.

Look at the mess Pittsburgh is in without Polomalu.

by carsonwayne on Sep 27, 2009 8:03 PM CDT reply actions

my unorganized thoughts.

1. Pollard can’t possibly suck as bad as our safeties. can’t wait to see him
2. We’re doing so much better at this point than we did last year.
3. Slaton wasnt much of a factor but he did start to get comfortable in the second half. I was concerned he’d ‘Lost It’ by adding weight but i think i may be wrong there.
4. Busing really isnt the answer at safety. MJD was pushing 2 guys close to the first down line and he just sat 2 feet away and watched. They got the 1st if i recall.
5. Matt Schaub gives me a raging hard on when he’s not being knocked around. The man gets work done when the O line lets him.

Looking forward to not having an 8-8 year!

What frightens me,

is we are having a tryout at strong safety during regular season games. That shit is for the pre season, you know its sad when I’m hoping to see Ferguson run onto the field in 2nd quarter.

Matt Schaub gives you a hard on?

What kind of broke back mountain shit is going on in texas? I thought that was the old west. I guess it’s in the gene pool!

I saw how Chris was acting on the Jags site

Chill. Act classy. You aren’t a BE-SFs fan.

Note to self: Insert something witty here.

he obviously

can’t string intelligent thoughts together and IF HE WAS a Jags fan, he could, at the VERY least, come up with some thing… some fact or observation as to WHY he feels that the Texan suck… but he can’t and is why he is resorting to name calling. The Tit fan is taking his anger out on you because his shitty little team is 0-3 and is heading for total meltdown.

ditto on stationed JAX

Per earlier comment, I figured I would chime in. I too was stationed @ JAX, NAS JAX to be exact. Got to see JAGS first ever game agains my then Houston Oilers. If I remember correctly, we squeaked it out 10-3 or there about. I think we weren’t too good that year, I can’t remember, but the bitches left me/us, so fuk em. Met first wife in Jax, beautiful but fertile red head. I pay monthly for that privilege. In fact, leaving Houston Friday to go to Jax to see my 2 girls. I hate our defense…i am so frustrated.
