Say Hello To Your New Texans Offensive Coordinator?
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Denver Broncos Offensive Line Coach Rick Dennison is meeting with the Texans front office this evening and are expected to announce him as the new Offensive Coordinator by tomorrow.
It is no big secret that Kubiak and Dennison are very close friends and the interview is just a formality. As soon as Denver gave permission for him to interview with Houston, he was pretty much unofficially the guy.
So, what do you think of Dennison, guys? Another Denver product.

Okay By Me
The whole Denver thing is overblown. Hopefully the guy will stay a while.

I think he is most recently O-line coach
…formerly Shanahan’s OC…am I right? Do I win anything?
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Correct
Think it’s the only move really.
Now let’s get Earl Thomas and Jon dwyer and we ready to go

I think the only reason he was demoted
Is because boy wonder Josh McDaniels wanted to be his own OC. Am I on a roll? Me, not a fan of Josh…
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

I know Gibbs is supposed to let Kubes know soon if he will return for a 3rd season
Looks like this move is some insurance against that. Hopefully Gibbs will return to give Matthews one more year of his valuable tutelage, but he may want to hang it up.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

hopefully gibbs' perfectionism
makes him stay one more to show that this season wasn’t the way he wants to be remembered.
And, hopefully he doesn’t want to prove this with the Skins.
But if he leaves, a shakeup may be just what the doctor ordered. A shakeup, two new G’s and a new C.
I just hope the J-E-T-S are resting their starters when we play them. Specifically their starting Nose Tackle.

Do Gibbs and Dennison have a working relationship
I don’t know.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Well from wikipedia
Gibbs was in Denver from 95-2003. Dennison was the “offensive line coach from 2001-05, special teams coach from 1997-2000 and an offensive assistant from 1995-96” before he became coordinator. So probably yes.

here's what I hope his interview was like
Question 1: Is Chris Brown a goalline back?
Question 2: Do you think a half-back pass at the goalline is a good idea when Chris Brown is the one throwing the pass?
Question 3: Should Chris Brown be on the roster next year?
If any of the answers given vary significantly from “no” or “hell no” he shoudln’t get the job.

ah. the good ol' booty brown litmus test.
Michael: It is going to up in Tahoe a couple more days. Maybe you could take a date?
Lucille: How am I supposed to find someone willing to go into that musty old claptrap?
Michael: The cabin... yes! That would be difficult, too.

Caveat - I Withdraw My Position If

I always assumed "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" would be some sort of country music diss track. Live and learn, I guess.

I'm over the whole...
oh no not another Denver guy! I trust in Kubiak and his system, that works, and I like the fact that he got someone who knows what the hell Kubes wants to do.
GO TEXANS!!!!
Our time will come...
Easy, guys
Never said I was against the hire because it was another Denver guy. Just bringing up a fact.
I won’t lie, it is getting old that Kubiak keeps hiring his buddies, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think Dennison is a good pick or not.

Agreed
But if the past 4 years have taught us anything WRT the Denver-pipeline, it is that so far this phenomenon has not caused us any problems at all on Offense.
On Defense….that’s a whole other story.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
well, there's
the RB problems that have bled south to Houston.
We have issues at RB, they have also, for years.
Mount Cody in round 1
Well
They could have at least given Bill Musgrave the courtesy of a reach around considering how closely he has worked with Matt Schaub in the past. Your quarterback being comfortable with the OC he has to work with should be a factor in your hire not how good of ass kissing buddies you are with someone.
Just playing a bit of devil’s advocate. ;)
I'm the best there is at what I do.
Is it also getting old that we're improving?
I can see how it would.
Bacon tastes good... Pork chops taste good.
Come on, Beef
25-23 in three years.
What a stunning improvement!!!!
Again, I DO like the hire.

And your original comment wasn't the least bit sarcastic.
I’ll have Kubes write you a note, apologizing for not turning our completely devoid of talent team into a world champion in 3 days.
Not all of us stepped out of the womb sprinting like yourself, Mikey.
Bacon tastes good... Pork chops taste good.
And the experience as an OC
may let Kubes concentrate on being the HC more, which should be good.
The project known as BabyShan was successful, but Kubes did spend a lot of time babysitting the offense. I see this happening the first few games of 2010, but by mid-season, if things are going well, Kubes may benefit from letting go of the play calling.
Mount Cody in round 1
Honestly
I think this offense could rack up big enough numbers if I was in charge of it. And I sure as hell would have benched Chris Brown a long time ago.
The Texans.

And I'm not saying this because I would be a particularly good OC
Just to make that clear.
The Texans.

there really werent any OC candidates out there that jumped out at me. As Kubiak is going to call his plays anyway, this seems logical. Just need someone who is going to continue the good chemistry.
Be judgmental about the actions of the past, be hopeful about the actions of the future. -The Homers Creed
someone who tracks this
what was the PapaShan success rate at coaches challenges when the offense was on the field?
This dude did sit in the press box, I assume hope.
So if Kubiak is already HC-Offense, and this is a title position that may add a little here and there, we need a guy in the booth who knows what he’s doing re: challenges.
