Saturday Night Tunes
Once upon a time, there was this blog (for the purposes of historical accuracy, let's call that blog: "bfd's Fantabulous Flying Circus and Circumcision Factory") that would routinely do a feature called "Saturday Night Tunes." We'd all curl up and do our hair and talk about the music we were listening to so we could discover new tunes.
And here we go! What are you listening to? A couple of big releases this week with RJD2's "The Colussus" and Spoon's "Transference" I had to jump on. What about you?

Some good new stuff out
Them Crooked Vultures – self titled
And the new Vampire Weekend….
Have you listened to the new RJD2, bfd? I love his stuff but the last few have been crap-tastic.
Agree
Definitely the worst of the lot so far. I re-listened to a couple others after, and the earlier stuff is so much better and dramatic. Then, I got 1976 stuck in my head all Friday, Dammit.

+1 on Them Crooked Vultures. Not quite the sum of their parts, but with parts like those, not necessarily a bad thing.

FF4 was pretty much the first video game I played and loved of the genre
So I have enough nostalgic happiness to be digging this game.
Enough so to put up with the flaws (not a ton of new dungeons, waaay too many back attacks/too easy to die when this happens, and the ending is completely convoluted)

Hell, you should listen to some of these RPG music remixes I've seen on Youtube
Probably three of the best I’ve heard is “The Very End” & “Boss Battle 2+3 Remix” from Lufia 2 & “Dancing Mad-Tier 4” from FF6
“The Very End” from Lufia 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT2LJTr_A6s
“Boss Battle 2+3 Remix” from Lufia 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0boMVLcEj0
“Dancing Mad-Tier 4” from Final Fantasy 6

I've yet to do Lufia
And the other one is way too metal for me.
If you’re going remixes you might as well just bust out The Black Mages.

Speaking of once upon a time...
back on DGDBDM there was an awesome treatise on bbqing. Can anyone find that somehow? It should be required reading for all of us.
Just so happens, I'm using it right now.
Let me know how to post it or get MDC to do so. It’s required reading for any Q enthusiast and should be in publication, IMHO.

I just went through and read every post here and it is all foreign to me! I suspect it is all or mostly metal or punk or somewhere in-between…not my style. I could listen to that for about 15 min just to be polite, then we would have to switch it to some classic Neil Young or early Jackson Browne….something that wouldn’t cause my head to break off at the neck! Hahaha! This all explains a lot. Thx for this bfd. When I get back and can use a real puter instead of this handheld, I will take some time to see just how musically demented y’all really are, LOL!

For anyone that listens to rap.
Lil Wayne – No Ceilings is a must listen, drops some great sports references, including a great slam on VY in the song break up.
Z-Ro – is my favorite of all the Houston rappers he has two recent CD’s (Cocaine, and Relvis Presley) that are both must haves.
Yelawolf – Kinda new in the rap game, from Alabama, has an interesting style similar to Kid Kudi, has a mixtape out called trunk muzik.

Atmosphere songs.
A lot of the songs from the recent album “When life gives you lemons, paint that shit gold” like You, Like the rest of us, and Wild Wild Horses and Shoulda Known are pretty catchy. It’s more mainstream than underground though. My favorite song from them is “God’s Bathroom Floor”.
If you’re looking for other sites for music, try playlist.com. You can make your own playlist or browse other people’s playlist and you don’t have to pay anything unlike lastfm and pandora.
