Fellow Battle Red Blogger Needs your help!
I mostly read here on battle red blog and post little, but I need your help. Our school at Duquesne University has cut our men's swim team. We have a yearly budget of 40k to run our team...and our school has a athletic budget of 10.8m. Cutting us does nothing to improve their financial situation, we are ranked 18th or 19th among all division I schools in GPA. You may not support swimming or Duquesne at all, but help a Texan fan out...e-mail, call, write letters to the people below and tell them they made a mistake cutting us. I am losing my second family for nothing! Please help out or if you have any other ideas that could help us let us know. We are located in Pittsburgh, Pa...I have a giant Texans sticker on the back of my truck and I get yelled at all the time by Steelers fans...just to show you my dedication =)

anything any of you can do to help would be amazing...also we have a facebook group under
SAVE DUQUESNE MENS SWIMMING , please join and send it to your friends...We need numbers! We plan a petition soon as well and the more people that sign the greater chance we have. It is not our fault that our school officials can not budget! Support us please!
If you would like to donate to help our program too you can do so at

Thank you, Senior Duquesne Swimmer...Brendan Schilling

Are there any specifics you'd like us to say?
A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

How about Title IX sucks?
Sorry, but equal funding in athletics I bet there is a women’s team that will not get cut. Not only that, but in some universities the women’s teams can’t even find a full amount of athletes to fill the teams, and yet there are men lined up to play who can’t because of budget constraints.
My college (Central Washington University) cut the Men’s JV basketball just before I got there. The women’s team on the other hand had recruiting flyers in the halls of campus to get a full team out there. Just ridiculous.
I know, not politically correct to say, but just wanted to point it out.
Good luck getting your swim team back…

yea
You can point out Duquesne swimming is ranked 15th among all Division I swimming teams for GPA in the NCAA…and you can say that we take up less the 1% of duquesnes 10.8 million dollar a year budget. Those are are main points. Thanks again!
Are you on scholarship?
What events do you swim?

Yes Iam
I am a senior, but my brother was supposed to come up here next year and now we can not. I swim Spring free…50 and 100 as well as the 100 fly. All the guys left here that are on scholarship get to keep them…but no one cares about that…it is the glory of being able to make it through 4 years of college athletics while juggling school and social life that really matters you know?
100 fly
Was my favorite event. I lettered in that and the 500 free in High School (weird combo, huh?) but I wasn’t fast enough to go DI.
Good luck with keeping the program.

Do you shave
your whole body?
If so I can’t support this action. It just seems wrong to encourage a bunch of young men to shave the bodies!
You can't fix Dumb or being a VYFB
Sure do
Makes you faster in your championship meet, on the plus side we do have the girls help us…so think what you want…if you are immature enough to not support a team based on that, we would prefer to not have your support.
If it's to win, I guess I can support the cause
But only to win
