The last drive when we REPEATEDLY CRUSHED their D-Line was what I have been waiting so long to see.
If you can blow them off the line when it counts, you can win anything.

We didnt crush their d-line
because they didnt have a d-line. The pats played the entire 2nd half with 1 or 0 down lineman

Also
No Wilfork. That 0-5-6 or whatever that is is…interesting. I think they were putting DTs on the line at the endzone, though.
Also, that’s partly why we were getting such a good push this game.

Wilfork hurt his ankle a few games ago and has to heal up
His presence is sorely missed whenever he isn’t in the game, and the D shows it

sorry i guess i missed that on those couple of plays
but its still easier to run block against 1 or 2 down lineman than a normal 3-4 front

na not for me. i think we were not going to get 16-0 because even if we won we would have rested this week. also
in this game today i wouldn’t have wanted the starters out there even if we were 15-0 because in those conditions there would be a very high chance of injury

Holy shit.
I must admit, I’m happier than I thought I would be.
First off, a heartfelt congratulations to Bob McNair. Class wins out in the end.
This game is the Gary Kubiak era in a nutshell – the team stumbles around flat for a while, makes a bunch of avoidable mistakes, and then nuts up and shows an incredible amount of heart to pull out one of the sweetest victories I can remember.
Bernard Pollard would have deserved the game ball. Right after him would be Mario Williams (yo Dickie, how about them apples?) and G-Lover Quin.
But none of those guys get my game ball.
Matt Schaub, take a bow.
When I thought the team was going to roll over and die, Schaub took the reins and made big throw after big throw. How many third-and-longs did he complete in the fourth quarter? He kept us in the game when he had every reason to roll his eyes in disgust and give up. But he did not. He showed up when it counted the most (again) and took us to the promised land, despite a seven-point handicap named Kris Brown. He got a huge assist from our D, but in my mind, it’s all down to him today.
I’m not even going to be polite about this. To anyone who ever says Matt Schaub isn’t clutch: fuck the hell right off.

and his int was not his fault at all. If it wasnt for the mistakes and Kris Brown this could have been a blow out.
But nonetheless great win by Kubiak’s team. No matter what happens later today I am happy with the Texans. I was very impressed that they were down by 14 coming into the 4th and pulled it out.
re: the INT
I put that on both Schaub and Jacoby. Schaub threw that ball extremely hard for a 7 yd pass. Jacoby dropped it but Schaub should have taken a little off of it.

yeah
I had CB as a solid RB3 before Foster arrived.
Now I see us drafting a RB mid – late and Foster being a solid RB3 or RB2.

Slaton
Had 1300 yards rushing last year, and he’s a much bigger threat catching the ball.
Still, I would be elated with a RB1a and RB1b combination with Slaton and Foster.

I think worst case we have Slaton / Foster 1-2 punch.
I hope our FA/Draft RB displaces both of them. But it is Kubiak’s draft, so you’re probably more on target.

A good team win
and they won it in clutch fashion. I wonder what Belichick was thinking on the Pats last drive…..“Should I put Tom Brady in and take the breath out of all the Texans fans?” or “Let’s put in Hoyer and give the Texans fans some good memories.”

that game was
very uncharacteristic of a Texans game.
We actually overcame our bonehead plays. Kris Brown tried to kick us into the same ol texans type loss, but we battled. From 14 down with 14 mins left, no less.
And we pressured/picked Brady to set up the game winning drive. How often do we just sit back in zone and lose games like that?
I hope this team makes the playoffs. We actually played like a playoff team today. Kris Brown will be our kicker, and we’ll have to win despite him. I just can’t see us trying out kickers for our first ever playoff game, if we get that far.
Mount Cody in round 1
I would still do it, if the Texans find themselves in the playoffs....
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Turning Point?
I know I know…I’m not trying to jinx us. But that game had a definitely feel of a young team maturing on the field. We didn’t play great all game, but we held our own against a team who, despite sitting some starters, played the majority of their guys and actually played well. Definitely makes me want to see more this season, and even more excited to see what happens next season.

I love how
the announcers were all over Belichick for not playing scared. Brady et al played, etc.
Then he sits Brady on the final drive. Thats the definition of scared.
He played him more than I would have played him, sure. But don’t tell me Belichick didn’t play scared. He wasn’t gonna put Brady out there on the final drive where we knew he’d throw every down and we’d pin our ears back.
Mount Cody in round 1
That was a smart move by Belichick....
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
One series from the playoffs....for both teams
One team NEEDS to win and the other….pffft…
You pull Brady and put in Hoyer.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
ignoring my point
the only reason you pull him is because you are scared of injury.
The whole game the announcers said Brady played because they wanted to win. That might have been the case until the game was on the line. Then they played scared.
I’m not disagreeing with Belichicks call to pull Brady.
Mount Cody in round 1
I guess we are saying the same thing
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Do you need me to say Belichick played "scared"
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Brady is the starting QB
and they don’t run Hoyer out in a game that matters.
So unless they wanted to get Hoyer experience, Belichick pulled Brady to avoid injuring his star QB. Thats fine.
That just is exactly the opposite of what the announcers were bragging on Belichick about. “He doesn’t play scared, he wants to win this game.”
Thats not how it played out. I’m not second guessing Belichick for pulling Brady. But I do wonder why he put him back in in the second half. That was confusing.
Mount Cody in round 1
You just don't hear the word 'scared' applied to BB that often
It was confusing, but both BB and Brady explained that putting Hoyer in at those times was already planned. They were using those end-of-half, end-of-game situations to give Hoyer experience and BB had also said before the game that everyone would play Sunday. He wanted to win, and you think that being up 14 points should have done it.
Forget about the offense, frankly I was a bit disgusted with the defense giving up 21 points.
Keep the faith!
Why would he do something like that?
Mario Williams is a failure. He would never, ever get to the quarterback or influence games at crucial moments. Brady would have had nothing to worry about.

If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
Day late, dollar short.
I hate to rain on everyone’s parade, but if we (ie: Texan’s Fans) think that we have a chance against the Patriots on their home turf, we’ve been smokin’ too many cow turds. Yes, we have a winning season, a season that should have seen us 11-5, or 12-4. We need to face facts. Our team does not play every game from start to finish. They do enough to get by and that is it. They have saved Kupiak’s job for the next season, squeaked by with one game over .500. We are still missing a leader, a true 4th quarter, 2:00 minutes left, down by 6 leader that motivates the winning drive or the sack that closes out the game. We still fumble, or drop passes, and miss field goals when the game is on the line and it matters most. We have no Vince Young, Tim Tebow,
Big Ben, or any other win or die leader. We have alot of almost theres, and come close’s, but we are not there yet. I am a die hard Texan’s fan, and watch every game and cheer every play. If I had the answer’s, I would own the team or at least be the general manager, so I can’t say what is wrong. I can just say that I want more than just enough.
I "ALWAYS" have the right answer on the morning after.
I stopped reading...
when you equated Tim Tebow with anything re: the NFL.

I read that sentence 7 times
I was just hoping to find some sort of sarcasm there. But there isn’t any.
He really thinks that VY is a “win or die leader”. WAIT…..maybe that’s why he almost committed suicide…..because he wasn’t leading and winning.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
I'll take die
Thanks!

yeah, the only thing he got right
was that Tim Tebow and VY do belong in the same sentence.
Just not a sentence that doesn’t include the words “shitty”, “overrated” or “will never amount to anything in the nfl”
Mount Cody in round 1

I stopped readin when you said beat the Patriots on their home turf
because we wont be playing NE if we make the playoffs

HERES THE QUESTION:
If you saw the Bills game, you saw it was practically blizzard like conditions.
Are the conditions the same for the Jets game I wonder?
If so, if you are Cincy, would you risk playing your starters at all in that kind of weather?
If it is snowy conditions, it’s a big mark in the Jets favor.

I'm calling bullshit on that one
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
I understand that, but is it extra incentive to keep your stars out of the game to avoid weather-related injuries?
This may be where the Cincy acquisition of LJ works out for us.

Pats fan here.
You guys need the Jets to lose, right?
I’m hoping for ya. And not only because I hate the Jets. Good luck getting into the playoffs, you guys have been waiting plenty long, and deserve it.

Thanks, Ben
Didn’t work out, but appreciate the class. Best of luck in the postseason.
Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...
I don't know,
but may I, or has anyone else already suggested “Arian Nation” as a nickname for Mr. Foster? I’ll buy you a Coors Light if you can make it stick. I’ll even throw in one of our many tasty OR brewed beverages. These games are killing my time on Mt. Hood, but I am willing to sacrifice a few more Sundays. Go Bengals! Keep Kubes! Playoffs!
Arian Nation?
Sorry, but I have to award a -1 for that.
Mainly, because I don’t think that any of our players should have a nickname that reflects a neo-Nazi organization with a propensity for misspelling by mixing up their I’s and Y’s.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
We should also never draft a member of Nebraska's
Black Shirts. So no DonkeyKong Suh next year.
God, I hate that a university uses that term. You know what they say: the “N” stands for “knowledge.”

Poor Texans... not enough luck to spread around the league to let scrub teams back into the playoffs... Until next year!
The Jets will beat you
And I will laugh.

Despite the bitterness of coming up one game short...
I’m proud of this team for finishing strong at 9-7 and scoring 21 in the fourth to win today. Everyone was making plays, and this team really has set the bar high for a great offseason and 2010.
Mario and Cushing with a sack, Pollard with an all around great game, and DeMeco and Dunta leading in tackles (Dunta tackling….kind of like the old days)….Foster and Dreessen stepped up….and I liked what I saw from the team today. It’s weird to be positive at the end of the season. 9-7 is a great milestone for this team, and next year I expect more…and this team can do more.

To be fair to Dunta
It is easy to lead the team in tackles.
Just leave your receiver open every pass play, then tackle him when he catches it.
