BRB's Comcastic Red Zone Review: Chiefs v. Texans

A brief look at how your Houston Texans fared in yesterday's improbable win over the Kansas City Chiefs:

Trips to Red Zone: 4
Scores in Red Zone: 4 (TD reception by Joel Dreessen, 2 TD runs by Arian Foster, TD reception by Andre Johnson)
Red Zone Efficiency: 100%

If only the offense could also play defense...

We should talk about this more

our offense has never been this good at putting points up. Sure we have always gotten the yards, but we are actually getting into the end zone when we have the opportunities.

And we almost threw a fade to Andre!

Kinda!

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

I think its the difference between Foster

and every other running back we have ever had. On the plays he is getting into the end zone he is leaping over dudes to get in.

Hey! That's not a bad idea!

Let the offense play iron-man football! At the very least make the receivers play in the secondary (except Andre, Andre must be protected). They can’t be any worse than what we’ve got now!

Would u happened to have

our season RZ stats. Scoring pct and TD-FG pct also.. It feels like those numbers would be pretty high, havent really notciced any turnovers in the RZ

Don't Have That

But I can’t imagine it’d be too hard to find.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

"if only the offense could also play defense"

Hey now, the Defense also was 100% in red zone efficiency! The Chiefs scored every time!

Oooooooh… I see what you mean.

Actually let Andre and JJ PLay on Hail Mary Plays

I mean why not?

I swear

Didn’t D. Ward also have that 33 yard run in the 3rd or 4th quarter? That certainly brought some momentum to our offense.

We should change from the Texans to the Heartattacks

As happy as I am over the win, I think if either of those short KC kickoffs had been long, we wouldn’t have had enough time to come back.

That being said, that’s football. Half the time winning is a matter of taking advantage of the other teams mistakes. I’m very happy we finally got to do that instead of watching everyone in our division do it to us. How many times have we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against the Colts?

Another thing I noticed is Foster is improving quickly in pass blocking. I wasn’t too keen on him at the beginning of the season in that aspect, but glad to see him making progress.

He almost got Schaub killed...

…on one of those sacks. It was his guy to get and he OLE’d him right on by… Schaub got up limping.

by DilloTex on Oct 18, 2010 6:07 PM CDT up reply actions

I didn't say he was perfect

Just that he is getting better. I saw him put enough hits to slow guys down enough to give Schaub time to do something. I don’t expect him to pancake everyone who gets back there, just slow them down enough for something to happen.

I watched that yesterday....

and I was thinking that was sort of a delayed blitz. Not sure what Foster saw on the right side of the line there that he thought he needed to help, but I don’t think he even saw the guy coming.

A.Johnson admits to cheating.

“He tried to run into me and bump me and I hit him with a little elbow to create some separation and was able to make a play.” ……… enough said. Now I respect him for admitting it. Even with his monstrous size and speed he needed to push off to catch on our All-Galaxy CB.

by MrRighTNow on Oct 18, 2010 6:49 PM CDT reply actions

Hmmm

So you decided to totally ignore the “He tried to run into me and bump me” part? I believe the flag should not have been thrown at all. Both of them were at fault. But how is your guy trying to run into and bumping our guy not cheating, and Andre pushing off cheating?

/Cue peppy 50's music

Hello, so you’ve decided to go trolling on sports blogs. Good for you. But before you do, do you have everything you need to be a proper sports blog troll?

/Look of confusion on clean-cut kid in proper 50’s clothes and hair with enough product in it to mimic the BP oil spill

You don’t know what it takes to be a troll? Well fortunately for you, this film will help you on your way.

Now, do you have an over-inflated sense of importance? You do? Good! That’s the first step in trolling properly.

Next, what is that you have there?

/Cut to kid’s hands clutching a file of seemingly important papers

Is that a list of pertinent team facts and statistics you have?

/Kid nods

Oh that won’t do at all. Here.

/File doesn’t change but there are random sparkly images around it in trolling team’s colors

You should never come armed with facts and logic, that won’t do for a proper trolling. You need to make baseless accusations and pointless stats. It doesn’t matter if they don’t make sense, young man, what matters is that they need to be said.

Now while the game is played, you should always gloat about how wonderful your team is on your opponent’s blog.

/Kid appears to be asking a question

What’s that? What if your team just blew a 14 point lead and can’t score against a phantom defense, you say? It doesn’t matter in the slightest. Your team is the bestest thing ever! Anything short of that kind of thinking will hamper your trolling expedition.

Now the game is over and your team lost.

/Show kid with sad look on his face

But hey, cheer up, it wasn’t your team’s fault.

/Kid perks up

It can’t be, if you’re trolling, it’s never because your team collapsed. It’s because of those activist referees or because the coaching staff, regardless of whether or not they have had success in the past, has the collective IQ of a sandwich.

/Kid has question…again

You know, I’m starting to get tired of your questions. What do you do in this situation? You latch onto one minor point in a game, a penalty, bone-headed play, anything, and scream at the top of your lungs that that’s why your team got hosed. Got it?

/Kid nods vigorously

Okay, you young scamp, get out of here, and thank you for watching this film on trolling. Good luck.

Hmmm

C’mon dude. I know I’m here ranting when the game is over and everyone is looking forward to next week but I don’t really care. Flowers never bumped him and if he did make any sort of contact, it was about 5 yards from scrimmage. AJ said he shoved him to make the catch. Simple. I didn’t ignore anything that mattered. Obviously Johnson is gonna make it sound like it wasn’t all him.

by MrRighTNow on Oct 18, 2010 7:15 PM CDT reply actions

I don't get Kansas City fans...

I don’t. What do you guys want?

Everyone who watched the game yesterday saw bad penalties being called (PI on Jackson and Flowers) and not called (holding on Mario and Hali). That’s how it goes in the NFL. It’s been that way for years and will continue to be that way.

Run on 3rd and 2…and we’re probably not talking about this. Kick it deep to the crappy returners and the Texans run out of time. Stop Houston on 3rd and 10 (2 plays later) and it’s down to a gutsy 4th down go for it or FG.

Bad penalty, both guys were battling, shouldn’t have been a flag….at worst, it’s both flagged, but the Chiefs had chances before and after. You all seem to act as if it were that one play which lost it when you shouldn’t have been in that position in the first place.

You guys seem so focused on the penalty….and are trolling on and on and on……what other response do you expect? Just move on…the horse is dead and rotting away.

there have been some classy Chiefs fans come by and offer us congrats on our nail biter of a win.

/btw our defense does suck, how did the chiefs fail to keep scoring in the 4th quarter?

I place the blame on our defense.

In my opinion, anytime you can score 31 points there is no reason you should lose a game. If you score 31, your offense has done its job. When your defense gives up 35 points, that is not a recipe for success.

I think the playcalling in the 4th quarter just became really conservative and flat. What we had been doing had been working, it just seems like we forgot about it or something.

I was refering to the ones who can't let it go

There have been good ones. Classy ones. They were not included. Those are the fans that should see an AFC West Champion.
