The NFL's new and/or strictly enforced policy on illegal hits is already running amok.

Retroactively?

Are you kidding me?

Well,

It was from last week’s game. So I think the “retroactive” aspect is a little misleading.

Bureaucracy question...

So what happens with all this money the league receives from player fines? Charity? More bureaucracy? Goodell puts it in a blender and drinks it like a milkshake?

by pattymcgee on Oct 22, 2010 4:23 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

I've always said that the Bonecrusher is a very charitable man.

When people evaluate Bernard Pollard’s legacy, surely they’ll say, “what a genuinely good, caring, giving man”. Take his charity organization, for instance: “Concussion-inducing helmet-to-helmet hits for the homeless”. Just a stand-up guy.

WHAT?

That leg whip got a fine? Fuck that so fucking hard in the heart. Same for the “out of bounds” hit pollard is getting in trouble for. I was ok with the first wave of fines, but those are rediculous.

Pollard's was bad and stupid

Smith’s was a horrendous call.

But, you should NEVER EVER NEVER call something retroactive. Only Bud Selig is that dumb, so Goodell must be hanging out with him.

I fucking hate Bud Selig the guy is so stupid. he looks like he has Alzheimer’s evry time i see him on tv. he alone makes me want to stop watching baseball.

Texas. Gods favorite country.

High fives

From the defense to the guy running by with the ball. The players will probably just collude and shrug their shoulders and say “well I didn’t want a fine for a bad hit, darn he just broke away.” We could see some teams break 100 points a game if the league keeps up this insanity. The cheerleaders are gonna have to strip naked to keep the seats full…

I really don't like the way the NFL is going about this.

Fining so many people for hits just smacks of reactionism.

I have very little faith that this “braintrust” can avoid a lockout.

by riversmccown on Oct 22, 2010 5:45 PM CDT reply actions

This latest wave

seems almost like they are just thumbing their noses at the player. 5,000 dollar fines? Whats the point? I can understand trying to avoid head injuries, but this is just absurd.

for guys that make around $700,000 a $5,000 fine means something...

math wise it would be equal to a guy making $75,000 being fined roughly $540 would it break him no but it would definitely piss him off

by jags52982 on Oct 23, 2010 11:36 AM CDT up reply actions

Except you really can't compare it that way

when you have enough money to buy anything you could reasonably want losing 5 grand is not the same as losing 500 bucks.

I miss the game this past weekend well atleast the first three quarters.

So i don’t know what hits they talking about but leave it to Houston to get fined by three guys. So let me get this straight we juice we cheat and we are nice enough to pay charities too. Nfl can kiss my ass with this shit for real.

we have the perfect defense for the "new" nfl...

instead of the “battle red carpet defense”, or the “no name defense”….we can have the “no defense-defense” ! SUPER BOWL BABY!!!!

Pollard doesn't make helmet-to-helmet hits though. He just hits hard

Although seeing what they did to Dunta’s legal hit on Jackson this weekend, I dunno. I hope Pollard doesn’t suspend himself anytime soon.

But I appreciate them beating the Yankees

I have had this discussion with many a folks.

I can root for the Rangers because, they are a lot like the Texans, no body remembers they are a team half the time, Their fans are respectable, and Nolan Ryan now owns a part of them…

Eff that

No way I cheer for the Rangers. They are a good story and have a good team but they are a Dallas team. It is bad enough that them effers have five SB rings to shove down my throat but now their baseball team might win a WS before the Astros… this is some depressing shit for this Houston fan.

also

Nolan Ryan was dead to me the day that he chose the Rangers cap for the HOF.

I can't blame Ryan

didn’t he have another three or four no hitters with the rangers???

The league is now also requiring that all players watch the following video in an attempt to curb violent behavior:
