The Texans Torch'd Award
AKA The "Who's Going to Torch the Texans This Week" Award
After watching the Texans offer up the most porous defense since the historically bad Baltimore Colts, I figured it was high time to offer the BRB fans a chance to vote on which player(s) from the upcoming opponent would end up looking like Pro-Bowl/Hall-Of-Fame caliber athletes. This week's opponent is the New York Jets, and because their QB looks decent through 10 weeks of the season, we'll shine the spotlight on the Running Backs, Tight Ends, and Wide Receivers.
Running Backs
- LaDainian Tomlinson - Age 31: 141 Rushing Attempts for 656 Yards with 5 TDs and a Long Rush of 31 Yards.
- Shonn Greene - Age 25: 107 Rushing Attempts for 463 Yards with 1 TD and a Long Rush of 23 Yards.
- Brad Smith - Age 27: 23 Rushing Attempts for 160 yards with 0 TDs and a Long Rush of 22 Yards - Listed as a WR.
I think it's a fair assessment to assume Tomlinson should pick up some decent yards along with Greene this week. A reasonable split can be expected since it's pretty certain the Jets won't have to rely on the rush against the Texans defense. This means neither of the two big names will have a truly stellar week, but our defense will still make them look great. The Dark Horse of the week is Brad Smith out of the Wild Cat formation for a possible TD this week as well.
Tight Ends
Dustin Keller - Age 26: 33 Receptions for 472 Yards and 5 TDs with a Long Catch of 41 Yards.
The Jets really don't use their other Tight Ends, and I think it's safe to say they won't need to this week either. Keller puts up at least a TD and 60-70 yards this week.
Wide Receivers
- Jerricho Cotchery - Age 28: 29 Receptions for 315 Yards and 2 TDs with a Long Catch of 49 Yards.
- Braylon Edwards - Age 27: 29 Receptions for 512 Yards and 5 TDs with a Long Catch of 74 Yards.
- Santonio Holmes - Age 26: 20 Receptions for 321 Yards and 1 TD with a Long Catch of 52 Yards.
The Jets OC and Mark Sanchez have to be salivating over getting the Houston Texans secondary this week. Not only are their three top Wide Receivers threats to go deep on any given play, but their Tight End is a great athlete who performs week after week. The real deep threat is Edwards, but Holmes has a higher yards per game average having only played in 5 (Holmes was suspended the first 4 games of the season). Factoring all this in, the dark horse of the week is David Clowney, Age 25. He's only played in one game this season with only 1 Reception for 22 Yards. This simply means we can expect Clowney to be the breakout player of the game against the Texans and put up 5 Receptions for 120 Yards with a long of 82 Yards.
Feel free to pick your Texans Torch'd Award Winner of the week, and then watch and see how he does. The poster who first comments with the correct Torch'd winner before the game will receive a free gift from me for Christmas from Amazon.com which will bear the Houston Texans logo somewhere on it. And yeah, I'm totally serious.
P.S. -- Special Shoutout to those who thought this would be a good idea to help ease the pain of the remainder of this season.

Cotchery is out.
Patrick Turner (?) has been signed from the practice squad to play this week for the Jets.
I vote Turner as the “Unknown Reciever” who will torch us for 135 yds and 2 tds.

I see you've paid attention to 2nd Corollary of Murphy's 2nd Military Law

Has the Texans defense become too excruciating to watch? Clorox Eye Wash is the solution for you. Apply directly to the eyes & the slight pain will provide everlasting relief from the vision of the Texans Defense

I think Smith,
as soon as Frank Bush sees him in the always funky wildcat, he’ll piss his pants and leave the stadium crying
"Do you ever feel more like you do now then when you got there?"
"Its always good to have the same number of takeoffs as you do landings."

Shonn Greene is due for a big game. I know Houston’s pass D is bad, but i think Greene is going to have a great game. He is finally getting a balanced amount of carries with LT, and will probably get few more than LT. Once Greene can get in a rhythm, watch out. David Clowney was waived and picked up by Carolina, btw.
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just going to say it now,
So there’s no backing down when I claim I won my own contest…
LaDainian Tomlinson will go huge this game. He’s just as lethal receiving as he is running. Big…BIG game.
It'll be someone we don't expect, as always
I didn’t put up Murphy’s Law of Combat Operations for nothing, learn from it
