I don't care about the last eight years; the expectations, our records, our draft picks, our blown draft picks, none of that. Today I care about one thing, or should I say one play (or maybe two since that's what I said above) that had to do with how I became that much more of a fan of the franchise that I already thought I loved too much. And how it took the play of the one player on my (our) team that made me reach this point.
The hater's can leave, the BESF fans can leave, ESPN can leave, Roger Goddell can definitely leave, Cortland Finnegans mom can leave, but for the rest of the readers that are fans of the Texans please allow me to explain how two plays in one football game changed everything, if you need to hold your nose, do so now, were jumping......
Andre Johnson is, from this point on, my hero. I don't know how else to say that. The player I love, and always will, took on an entire franchise today by taking on one player. Today a rivalry was born. When a soldier, I mean player, goes to battle like Andre Johnson did today, taking care of his duties (9 catches for 56yds, 1td) he can't be expected to listen to, and take, the ongoing whining and crying and whatever else beaten and broken pussies on the other side of the battle lines have to say. A man reaches his breaking point at some time. Today one was reached. I can not fault AJ for any action taken in this game; yes he will be missed (I am assuming for the next game) but not forgotten. I believe what this great man was attempting to accomplish by these heroics, being two haymakers and an uppercut (I bet even Pacquiao got nervous watching those), will not be lost on the rest of his teammates.
Today one Bad Ass player that; unfortunately to most of the ignorant football world, will be known for this event instead of his amazing skills as the best wide receiver in the National Football League; just did something even more amazing. He created a real, god damn, no bullshit, A-one rivalry. And lit a fire in my ass and hopefully his organizations, that makes me so happy. I have personally been waiting for this for so long. To some it may have been one before, but now there is no question about it. I plan to sing it from the mountaintops "I fucking hate the Tennessee Titans".
This amazing human being made me so proud and justified, in three quick blows to the head, for being a Houston Texans fan. If we may we lose out the rest of the year, and I pray to Durga that we don't; especially if all AJ did sunk in;I will not be disappointed. But that one, I guess two plays, made me so happy, that I would gladly contribute to any fund to pay all of the fines imposed by the league. I think I will have perma smile for the whole week.
I will no longer see the Tennesse Titans as the old Houston Oilers(Bud Adams rot in hell!), today they became the (enemy) team I look for on the schedule and tell the wife and kids, "You may want to get out of the house, its not going to be pretty today". Today they became worse than Peighton and his enormous forehead, worse than any team bought by Jerry Jones, worse than any other team.
Today they became my rival.
Set your calenders, December 19th,2010, Texans fans have something to rally around!
