Mark Berman: Andre Johnson Fined, Not Suspended
According to Mark Berman.
Let's not treat this as official, yet, but we'll (including you, oh faithful readers) verify as soon as we hear directly from the league.
I just hope Berman isn't using Pancakes as source material after the latter's error earlier this morning.
h/t AllenOU, who sadly only posted this one once.
Update: Via Rivers, Jason La Canfora confirms? I hope.
UPDATE II: Both 'Dre and Innegan fined $25,000.00, but neither will be suspended.

Sadly i doubt it really matters against Vick
Unless Dre also played FS. But here’s hoping.
Texas. Gods favorite country.
On second thought.
Maybe G Quinn will get a couple more picks now that he knows he can indeed catch the ball on D.
Texas. Gods favorite country.
He would of had 5 by now if..
Garcon didn’t punch it outta his hands in the first indy game, and if he intercepted the “Q-Tip”. Probably a bit more because I have seen him drop a few.
I trust Berman...
he’s the best in Houston, as far as scoops go.
It makes sense in multiple ways. Andre Johnson has a great reputation and was provoked. He apologized as well.
Also, Houston’s short week means that the Texans would only have a day or two to adjust without Andre…which would be a bit unfair from a game standpoint as well.
In either case, it’s good news if true.
"Lord, beer me strength."
Self-pats on the back
Mort just said that the Thursday game played a role in it because of the competitive disadvantage that it would provide Houston for a lack of time to adjust without Johnson.

plus
This story went viral immediately. The amount of publicity for Thur’s game is off the chart…..no way the league misses on that cash cow by putting a weaker product on the screen.
Everyone (including most of us probably) thinks it’s a foregone conclusion that we’ll lose, but we’re almost guaranteed if Dre doesn’t play.
Imagine what happens now if we actually pull it off.
I'm a man!! I'm forty!!
Hahahaha
This is just the icing on the cake. Andre punks Innegan and only gets fined. Even the league was happy to see that jackass get what he deserves.
I don’t think AJ will make a difference Thursday, but I just like that AJ did what he did and didn’t get suspended for it.
Good shit
Now lets shock the world on Thursday!! I know a couple Eagles fans ima have to brag to

Going over to MCM to watch the inevitable breakdown.

Hopefully our defense can continue that dominate performance.
Wouldn’t it be something if we shut out our last 5 opponents?
And it would be something...
If I win the lottery haha. Love the effort they put out on Sunday but they are still the same defense that had played the previous 10 games.

I’ll settle for holding the last 5 opponents to under 20 points each.

This defense isn’t the same defense we’ve seen the first 10 weeks of the season.
Exhibit A…Cushing is back to form. Rust off, stupid coaching dealt with.
Ok, so that’s really the only exhibit I can pull at the moment, but really they are NOT the same defense.
Bentley or the Rev >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Diles
Also…
Quin actually has 3 picks now. Sometimes all it takes is one to get a guy fired up. Plus, it’s not a home game, and we do better away from Reliant. A lot better.
Didn't GQ move back to the slot yesterday?
like last year?

Looked like it, yes
Allen on one side (who, let’s be honest, wasn’t tested in the least yesterday) and Kareem was on the other. Quin slot. No McCain. I didn’t notice McManis, either.
I can’t say enough about the difference between the Good Rev and Diles.

I didn't say a word
To echo what others are saying…it was nice to see Cushing back to his role that we grew accustomed to last season. Good to see an opposing player who was destined to have his turn at a career day, fail. I think we were all surprised to see AJ snap like that, but I think we all know why. Finnegan is the league’s dirtiest player and he outdid his bad reputation leading up to his submission. Goodell is not all bad and probably saw what we did. We are all holding our breath on the D and hoping they can gain some confidence even though it was a handicapped opponent. But, didn’t CJ2K looks like CJ-2 yesterday?

Kareem has been looking better as of late
and its not crazy to think he has improvd. Sharpton over diles, McMannis over McCain. Might not be much, but with our offense it might be enough.

I think the run defense improved against the Jets, with Cushing in better form. And I hope yesterday’s game carries over too but I’m not counting anything in that game as gospel because of Rusty.

IF the pass defense is even mediocre...
And our run defense plays at mediocre or above it is a significantly improved defense. I think it’s entirely possible for them to be at that point. Pollard is still a liability in coverage and worries me more and more, as does Wilson…
Anybody have the numbers (or will you have them rmc) on how many plays EW was in for?
no way
Vick will have all of our secondary twisted in knots trying to cover running lanes. It’ll take an extra special from our secondary, or better yet our D-line, to beat the Eagles.
Speaking of D-line play, that was one of the best interior line jobs I’ve seen from our group so far, especially Okoye. He was directly responsible for two tackles for loss on CJ……one he wrapped him up single-handed, and the other he tripped him up and made him run smack into Cush.
If we get that same type of game changing performance from Amobi again we might have a chance to run Vick into Cush, Mario, Pollard, et al.
Problem is, that was more likely just a flash of the Okoye we thought we drafted and he’ll be largely ineffective.

I'm torn on this
If he is only fined, I’m happy for my team. We need all the help we can get right now. We can be happy we won, but we still faced a rookie QB who was thrown to the wolves. As an NFL fan, if this were two other teams, I would want both suspended for one game each. Maybe three games if someone else had Finn’s past record this year (and considering he’s been warned this year). The thing that gets me is that SIR allowed Finn to get into his head at all. I know you can only take so much, but it’s football. You can say he was just being a man and all, but he’s still an NFL player and has a higher standard than others he has to follow, and I’m a bit disappointed that it had to come to swinging fists. Lots of fights break out all season in football, but usually the worst it gets is a lot of pushing and shoving, and NFL players demonstrating they know nothing at all about the human reproductive system.

If Colts beat tits twice...
and both teams end up 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the division, who wins the tie breaker?
It gets really ugly for us if that happens
because Colts lost to us by 10, then beat us by 13 so they win the head to head by 3 points. They would win the division and we’d be praying for a wild card spot.

Actually...
according to wkittinger’s tie breaking procedures, the only thing that matters in head to head is the won-loss-tie percentage which would be 1-1. So it would come down to common games and if they lose to both the cowboys and raiders then I believe we would win the tie breaker because of our win over Oakland! I think, I may be wrong.

Doesn’t come in to play.
1. W-L head to head
2. W-L in division
3. Common opponents
I think in the scenarios where we catch both Indy and Jax, we end up winning the common opponents.

Our offense could put up 35 points
and take it out of the defenses hands. Sorry its not exactly false hope when we have gone to the wire against the jets and chargers over the last month, there is an actual chance for us to win any game we play.
LAST SEASON, I led this team in ninth-inning doubles in the month of August!
agreed
plus, i think vick was exposed the last two weeks – theres a way to beat him: take out the deep ball, pressure him cuz their OL is shaky, and force him to make quick, accurate strikes (he cant). obviously thats easier said than done for our defense, but the blueprint is there.
also, never underestimate that a) schaub plays much better on the road, b) samuel may miss the game again (great for AJ), c) you can run easily on philly, d) andy reids late game decisions baffle even gary kubiak..
that being said, theres a lot of dangerous talent on that team – looking forward to it. just want the texans to show up like they did this week. last week felt like the seattle game did last yr. thorough beating to get the team on track.

1. Which part of that do you see our defense doing?
and
2. While being “exposed” the last two weeks, the Eagles have put up a total of 53 points against the Giants and Bears……Which of those defenses do you see us being remotely close to emulating?
While I hope the defense shows up, there is nothing to indicate that it will. Certainly not beating “Rusty Smith” or whatever his name was.

Which part of the Cowpokes game did you miss?
The part where the Giants D looked like piss-poor babies or the part where they couldn’t stop anything? They still won, but they looked piss-poor. It’s always a possibility.
We were ONE play from winning
against Jets (current team on top of AFC) and Chargers (highest ranked offense/defense by stats). I totally agree, and hope that Philly has a down week against us after being mauled by the bears.
Hey, we got an extra 4 hours of rest over them going into this!

I have to agree
For me it’s not false hope, merely a possibility. We’ve taken several teams the distance, including a conference contender.
Factor in a documented pattern of better play in December and it makes the possibility of a strong finish even more possible……is that possible?
I'm a man!! I'm forty!!
Agreed.
This Philly team isn’t any better than the Jets. They can be run on more so than Tennessee and New York, and they give up a ton of TDs through the air. Vick is also fairly sackable. He has a habit of dropping back a long way, which is right in Mario’s wheelhouse.
Gotta be a more balanced effort than last week, though. Their defense gives up plenty of points to good offenses. Time to prove that we’ve got one of those; I put that on Schaub. We need another KC-like game from him (for for more than one quarter).
Longer this takes to confirm...
…the more I start to believe Berman may have jumped the gun? Let’s just hope Goodell didn’t get word of the report before he’d made his decision.

I've seen other sources running with this but
they’re all referencing back to Berman

I think I want to know what Innegan gets
more than I want to know what Andre gets. That may make me a bad person.
Texans fan.
No, that makes you human.
I want retribution on Innegan !!!

Cortland Finnegan’s new jersey will read "innegan" as a result of Andre Johnson beating the ‘F’ out of him.
Saw this and thought you may have a good chuckle
Inspiration
I witnessed this ass-kicking live. I’ll admit, before I realized that what I had just seen was amazing, I worried about Andre’s status for Thursday night. I never really felt like he would get suspended despite so many people thinking he would. I hope this lights a fire under this team’s ass and sends them into overdrive for the last 5 games.

Texans have just been informed Andre Johnson will not be suspended for fighting incident Sunday
Both fined 25K.

Posted this oon MCM but I LOVE what the league has done here:
…what Goodell has done is send a message…THIS message:
"If you are a crap-eating douchebag, like Finnegan, who CONSTANTLY gets in trouble for playing dirty and taking cheapshots, then the LEAGUE does NOT have your back and you can deal with the consequences of your actions."
GREAT message to ALL dirty players in my opinion.
It just became open season on Finnegan across the league and IT’S ABOUT TIME.

Is there a discount if we do this online today before Cyber Monday wraps up?
Do we have to bring our own photographer or does the NFL provide one as part of that anti-fan beat down package?

Hey if you guys are taking up a collection
for that 25,000 count me in
There aint nothin like seein a punk gettin his ass kicked
I'm pleased.
Finnegan got what he deserved if you consider this a buildup of all of the dirty stuff he pulls on a regular basis. I think Goodell is tired of Finnegan thumbing his nose at the league with his dirty play. Plus I’m sure they checked out the tape to see a lot of those jams that Cort was pulling throughout the game. Why is Dre getting jammed if it’s a run to the other side of the field? Why can’t Finnegan seem to aim his jams somewhere besides Dre’s head, neck, and face? That sort of thing, there’s no way to police it, I guess the NFL just has to hope that more guys play the game the right way.

If illegal hits to the head are costing $50K - $75K per
Then AJ’s hit must have only been partially illegal, with only a $25K fine.
I was actually hoping to see Innegan get suspended, since he is constantly doing this crap.
My only hope, we run a screen to Innegan’s side of the field, and one of the guards puts a block on him, squashing him flat. You all know he is going to try and start stuff again with AJ when we are in their house – he knows he gets under ’Dre’s skin. And – if this happens again I’m sure the punishment will get worse.
As much as I hate the cunt bastard
He did apologize for waving at our fans while leaving the field. I’ll give him credit for that.
But everything else he has said just makes him look like more of an idiot
This isn’t the NHL? Well then stop playing like it is smart guy. There are 63 other starting Corners in the league that play within the rules, and some suck ( your cousin cunta and Brice McCain )
But you can’t play any other way cause then you will suck even worse.
by AllenOU on Nov 29, 2010 7:16 PM CST via mobile reply actions
I thought he said
“if” he was gonna apologize for anything it would be that. Obviously the if bit changes things – sorta like saying “I’m sorry, but…” really isn’t an apology.
"Eat Well, Stay Fit, Die Anyway" - Ancient Chinese Proverb
Speaking of apologies...
Obviously Andre came out and delivered a nice one. But you’ll notice that at no point does he apologize to Finnegan. We can call it “heat of the moment” all we like, but there’s not gonna be any lost love between the two next time around.
absolutely no reason
to apologize to that douche.
This is a team sport. His only apology should be for letting them down by missing time. But I think he showed his leadership, and I hope we benefit.
"I'm trying to get a feel for Booty" - GK
Players around the league have all ragged on Innegan.
Damn, I knew the guy was unliked, but it seems every other interview with an NFL player includes the bashing of Innegan
If you're a fan of basketball, watch a movie called Sonicsgate. It's free, just google it.
I never knew who Innegan was until the fight.
Now that I know more, I wish ’Dre would have put one more fist to his carrot-top-looking face.
You know what's coming up in 3 weeks?
The rematch. Here’s what I see happening…
Andre Johnson wants to shut Innegan up for good, and goes apeshit on his ass. Dre lays down at least 150 yards receiving and 3 TDs, and also lays the key block Hines Ward style on Innegan to break Foster free for a 60+ yard TD.
Mark it.
My fantasy
12/19
-Andre breaks the single game receiving TD record.
-Innegan also tears an ovary ACL while AJ jukes him out on the record breaking TD.
-Doctors tell Innegan the damage is so bad he can never play football walk again.
Keep it up, Texans. Now I want someone to beat the shit out of vick on Thursday.
Houston Texans Number One
Hope Pollard has an ACL tear waiting & ready for him

It's over but
anyone see Innegan’s quotes from yesterday? He had this gem:
“"As a respect issue, when your helmet comes off, the play is over," Finnegan said on 104.5 The Zone, via Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean.”
I wonder if he’s mimicking words he heard after the Broncos game.
Yet he hung on to Andre's helmet & ripped it off, them proceeded to get pummeled for it
