Ask Baltimore Beatdown: Ravens Blogger

Hey Battle Red Blog! Bruce from Baltimore Beatdown here to answer any questions you might have about this week's match-up on Monday Night Football. Looking for a shootout and hopefully a healthy game for both teams. Beyond that, I can't offer good luck to the Texans and think if my Ravens don't take them seriously and put some points on the board, your team will spring the "upset" on prime time.

What do you all think, and feel free to fire away and I'll stop back here to give you my take on your comments and questions. Peace!

Raven's are my favorite defense to watch...I'm scared Suggs and Ngata might cause brain damage.

that being said is Ray Lewis an ageless wonder? How long do you expect him to keep preforming at this level year in and year out?

Also, Boldin looks to be a huge offseason asset for the team. What Kind of numbers do you think he’s going to put up on our efense? (no D)

by UHdustin on Dec 10, 2010 10:23 AM CST reply actions

Thanks for the props to our defense

although as good as it’s been this year, it desn’t compare to season’s past. Ray should be able to play another year at least, maybe two. He is in amazingly freakish shape, watches tape better than anyone in the league and is a coach on the field, which makes players arund him so much better. That is part of the reason players leave Baltimore for big bucks only to fail out of Ray’s shadow. Haloti is a beast and Suggs had his best game of his career last week and is so disruptive regardless of stats.

Boldin has been huge but we need to get the guy the ball much more often, which has fans upset with our OC, esppecially after the Steelers game. He should finish with double digit TD’s and around 1000 yards. Thanks!

Can't argue with the 1000 yard logic

double digit TD's and 1000 yards..

sounds about right against our secondary.

by UHdustin on Dec 10, 2010 9:07 PM CST up reply actions

I think he's giving our efense too much credit

I think 20 TD & 1500+ yds is an absolute possibility

by Barryfromtexas on Dec 10, 2010 12:28 PM CST up reply actions

Of course it's our secondry

against Schaub and Johnson. It’s been okay but can be picked apart and they play way too far off the ball, allowing quick slants, WR screens, etc.

To be honest, I am also more concerned about our offensive gameplan as all four games we’ve lost, we had the lead in the fourth quarter and obviously can’t “finish.” Whether it’s the playcalling or execution, it is a huge concern throughout Baltimore football sports talk.

by Joe25 on Dec 10, 2010 10:58 PM CST reply actions

Surprisingly, Carr

has been our best CB by far and developed into one who can go one-on-one. However, Johnson is the combo of way too big or fast for Carr to manage by himself. At the same time, Carr has not been overly burned this season, although Johnson is in a class by himself IMO.

He got an extension last year through 2012 season

With the lockout looming, there’s no way they bring in a new coach when they can’t work with players until a new CBA is in place. Players are “locked out” and can’t come to facilities or talk with the organization. So what can a new coach do? It would be a pretty tough task to implement effective changes even with a full offseason to work with.

We still need to replace the defensive coaches.

i hate stats like these. one, because it makes me sad. and two, because the texans have only been around nine years… unless we’re the only team not to make it in nine years (which i doubt), this isnt a really fair statement.

8. With respect to long-suffering fans in Cleveland, Buffalo and elsewhere, no team has been as under-achieving and frustrating to watch over the past decade as the Houston Texans. They’ve got one last chance to make a move in 2010. Lose to the Ravens on Monday night, and the only team in the league NEVER to make a playoff appearance will keep the streak alive. Most frustrating of all: The Texans have elite talent on both sides of the ball.

True fan logic

Well said. For the most part, a lot of Ravens fans, especially the younger ones, are spoiled by our success. The ones who lived (or died) with no football from 1984-95 apreciate anything NFL here in Baltimore, even those tough years when we had a bad team from ’96-99.

We notice it and applaud you but

don’t ever believe fora second Baltimore “adopted” the Deadskins when we didn’t have a football team. Anyone but them. I liked the Raiders and Packers, but mostly shunned the league that had shunned Baltimore. When Carolina and Jacksonville got expansion teams ahead of us w/o deserving them, we knew our only chance at an NFL team was relocation.
