BRB's Comcastic Red Zone Review: Ravens v. Texans

A brief look at how your Houston Texans fared in the red zone during last night's overtime loss to Baltimore:

Trips to Red Zone: 3
Scores in Red Zone: 3 (FG by Neil Rackers, TD reception by Jacoby Jones, TD reception by Andre Johnson)
Red Zone Efficiency: 100%

Interesting fact--Until Andre Johnson's 46 yard TD catch with less than a minute left in the first half, the Texans did not cross the Ravens' 34-yard line.

Oh, slow starts, how I loathe thee.

I think Kubiak’s biggest mistake on Monday was electing to receive to start the game. This offense just can’t get it going on opening possessions. Fun fact: of the Texans five wins this season, four have come when we got the ball after the half. I know it’s a tough thing to do when you’ve got a lousy defense, but it’s time to start deferring. You’re going to get that possession anyways; it’s just going to come at a time when the offense might actually be capable of sustaining a drive.

I agree

if you have a slow starting late game producing offense, why wouldn’t you ALWAYS defer so your offense starts the second half?

Then again, let’s fix the “slow starting offense” that sleep walks the first half of most games. Not just this season, but most of the last few years this seems to be the trend.

Uncomfortably numb......thanks to the Texans

Plus
  1. Don’t Punt
  2. Onside kick every kickoff

I believe that the Texans need to score 40 points in every game to be competetive because of efense.

I think his biggest mistake

was kicking the 52 yard field goal instead of going for it.

Those things frightened me as a child.

I’ve spent my life developing some sort of ice beam to defend myself for when they invade.

True

If you make it – great – if not the field position loss is 7 yds better for us (unless you lose yardage on the play)

Aye

I think the chances of us making the first down are far higher then rackers hitting a 50+ yarder
