Forget what I said last week. This week I am blaming GM Rick Smith
Funny how one game can change things, but we are now 1-7 in our last 8. We have known for years that we have a personnel problem in the secondary! At the beginning of the season, many prognosticators asserted Houston could not be a contender because we lost Dunta Robinson and we did nothing to fill the hole he left, let alone the hole that was already there. As a believer, I tried to ignore these guys, hoping that our awesome linebacker core could help our defense overcome our secondary problems.
In 5 years, we have not had a legitimately good defensive coordinator. We have a head coach who has never been a head coach before the Texans. We have a young GM, who has never been a GM before. It almost seems that Kubiak is afraid to bring in somebody with a proven track record because he is afraid there will be a viable candidate for his job.
So it is pretty clear that the Texans are now PITIFUL! Kubiak / Smith is clearly not an improvement over Capers / Casserly. I put this on the head of the GM. The personnel IS THE ISSUE--coaches, players, GM, and possibly owner.
If the owner is worth a crap, GM and Head Coach will be gone NOW before the end of the season! But I have a feeling that the owner is content with mediocrity. Why else is he content to hire young, inexperienced, and lackluster personnel in key positions?!
TIME TO CLEAN HOUSE, NOW! We have nothing to lose. What do we have to gain? The start of a new culture that we are unwilling to accept poor performance any longer.
Texans are a poor team from top to bottom. We are not mediocre. Mediocre teams do not go 1-7 in an 8 game stretch. We are BAD.

I said dont fire anybody right now cause well there's no point.
With only 2 games left it would be stupid to do it, especially since we have nothin to play for other than draft position. Plus firing a Frank Bush now would bode the question; Why the hell didnt we fire him when we were 4-2 and still had hopes for the playoffs.
You are such a good friend that if you and me were the last two people trapped on a sinking boat with only 1 life vest left, i would remember and pray for you every day.
I agree with everything you said, but...
Why would it be stupid if we have nothing to play for? I believe as of today, the Texans, not the Cowboys, are the single biggest disappointment in the NFL today. Fire them all. Put in an interim coach for 2 games, while you go get some personnel that can make a difference! It is not just a defense problem. Did Frank Bush get to choose to have no adequate personnel in the secondary? Who let that happen? Rick Smith, Gary Kubiak, and Bob McNair… That’s who needs to be fired. My opinion.

And i think they should all be fired but after the season
Firing them now would cause temporary excitement until people step back and say “Why the fuck did it take so long?”

Plus two games is not alot of time to evaluate an interim coach
Besides who the hell on this staff would you want to be the interim coach anyway?

Bruce Matthews?
yeah, that’s not likely

I say fire Rick Smith
We should have gotten rid of him when Richard Smith was fired, just like we cut ties with Ch/Kris Brown, if there’s two guys with similar names in the franchise, get rid of them both so there’s no confusion

What hole did Dunta leave?
He sucked, and he has been sucking in Atlanta. Signing him to a big money deal would have been stupid.

C'mon.
Let’s not let hate cloud our judgment. This one is pretty clear-cut.

No its not
it is clear cut that Dunta was not good last year and was not good this year from all accounts.
"The trouble with programmers is that you can never tell what a programmer is doing until it’s too late."
Dunta is not good.
That is a true statement. However, he doesn’t “suck”. That qualifier is reserved for players like K-Jax and McCain.
It was an uncapped year with a thin DB market. Saving money is nice for Bob, especially in these tough times. But somehow, I don’t think this would be a 5-9 team with an experienced CB back there instead of a lousy rookie.
the uncapped year had little to do with Dunta
He wanted a long term contract, something we would have to pay him more than he was worth next year on, when there is a cap to worry about. Dunta is basically a smaller version of Pollard. Likes to put his helmet down and launch his body at runners while keeping his arms velcroed to his hips, and gets burned easily in coverage. He wouldn’t have fixed our issues. Our problem is we run a zone scheme with players who havent shown they are capable of playing in a zone, with a weak front 4 that can’t rush the passer. Look at our best defensive performances. It was the 2nd half of the Philly and Baltimore games, when they went to man coverage and blitzed like crazy with Pollard and Cushing. The problem is Bush and it has been all year.

There should have been an option for..
…fire Rick Smith and Frank Bush. No, that doesn’t absolve Kubiak from blame but the offence is not the problem. Our D scheme, coaching, and most importantly, personnel, are woeful at best. It will take more than one off-season to right the D too as there are gaping holes in all three areas, DL, LBs and DBs.

Fire Bush
I dont know what should be done with Kubiak or Smith. I still believe that a real DC and this team has 2-3 more wins, but I don’t like how the team only plays 30 mins.
and the clouds opened up and God said "I Hate you Texans Fans."
