Gary Kubiak's Monday Presser: 12/27/10
Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but it sounds as though Kubes is saying that Rick Dennison is OC in name only:
(on people saying that he takes the blame for everyone else when the play calls are bad) "What I do as a coordinator is I do the game plans. I go out there to cal the game, but I take input from everybody. I take input from (offensive line coach) John Benton, Rico (offensive coordinator Rick Dennison) and I work together. I take input from all of the coaches. I think calling games in this league is about everybody putting their brains together. It really doesn’t matter who actually says, ‘okay, this is the play we’re going to run.’ I think we all come to that conclusion and what we want to do in situations and we go forward with that. I think being good and to me, there’s been a lot of good things on offense, comes from a lot of guys working together. It’s not just about the guy who sends the play in."

I said it earlier in the season...
The offense clicked so unbelievably well last season because of Kyle Shanny. As soon as Shanny packed up and left, offensive duties went back to Kubiak. Kubes doesn’t trust his offensive coordinator (no matter what he says). It took Shanny a couple of years to even get the chance to call plays in a game on his own. This lack of faith in the play-calling of Dennison led Kubiak to call most of the plays himself (or to “take input from everyone”), and it showed on the field.
It is all on Kubiak offensively this season. The pieces were in place, and it was the majority of his play-calling which doomed the offense. The real proof is in Schaub’s discomfort with the plays, his throwing accuracy, and his discomfort behind the offensive line. He simply looked too uncomfortable back there, and when I as a fan watching through the TV can see that it has to be abundantly clear to the players.
I KNEW I heard him say "coordinator!"
I asked this in the Post Game Thread, but I wasn’t sure if it was just a Freudian slip or there was something there.
I am a visionary, I am a genius, and now I am angry! Now help me find my pants!
A word of advice for Texans fans. Remember John Milton's Paradise Lost: The mind is its own place. It can make a Hell of Heaven and a Heaven of Hell. Kinda sums up the last nine years, doesn't it?
Personally I think he knows his fate is sealed.
He knows he’s about to be relegated to coordinator status again and is getting ready for interviews. Or it was a Freudian slip.

I wouldn't make a big thing out of it.
So long as he went home after the pressie and started packing up so he can move on….awwww, Man! That was cruel. I hate myself….
I didn't do anything wrong!.... and, I won't do it again.
Kubiak is what he is, a top notch OC
Appears that at least subconciously he wants to be an OC again. He loves calling plays, not being the head coach.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

And if he is wearing a SB ring next year
All of us are going to hate him a bit more as well. Maybe Rick can go join him in Atlanta.
Uncomfortably numb......thanks to the Texans
