With the passing of Don Meredith today and all of the attendant retrospectives, it's been entertaining to be reminded of some of his trademarks and sayings, such as singing "Turn out the lights..." at the (effective) end of games.

I've got  a couple of favorites:

Don was once quoted regarding Walt Garrison (his fullback) as saying: "Walt's a great fullback... If you need two yards... Walt will get you two yards... If you need five yards... Walt will get you two yards..."

Regarding unfulfilled promise...  "If 'ifs' and 'buts' were candy and nuts we'd ALL have a Merry Christmas."
