Dunta Robinson Looks Like He Is Done In Houston
This was generating a lot of debate in the Mock Draft post, so we decided it needed its own post. Fire away in the comments.

Well it more than likely is true.
I dont believe his thoughts of what he is worth would be low enough for the Texans to keep him around. Sure he said that he wants to stick around at the end of the season but I still think he has the big head and would get too money hungry and would rather accept more money from a lesser team.
Toodles!

Just because the Texans haven't talked to him...
…doesn’t mean he’s gone just yet. Heck, they could tag him on the last day for all we know.
If you watch Kubes/McNair at the re-signing press conference
They made no indication that anyone would get a contract or offer before that day in early March.
Yeah
This kind of speculation based on the reasoning “I’m not hearing much right now” isn’t really enough evidence for me to get my hopes up.

Kind of?
When did Pancakes became a reliable source? My god. On top of that, it was a tweet. A TWEET for christ sakes.

No point crying over spilt milk
SInce it’s starting to look more and more like he won’t be back next season, that leaves us to address the CB position.
I’m not comfortable trusting in Quin, Reeves, Bennett, McCain, and a cripple Antwaun Molden, manning the corner positions.
While my first response is to sign every Tom, Dick, and Harry we can find at CB in hopes of finding one who sticks.., the more I think about it, the more I think we really need to add just one or two others this offseason. Molden I think is pretty much done because of his injuries, Quin and McCain were both rookies this season who may or may not make the big sophmore jump people always go on about, Bennett is looking like a one year wonder, leaving Reeves as our most reliable corner… If that doesn’t scare the piss out of you, I don’t know why.
Ideally i’d like the team to add a free agent corner or make a trade for say a Cromartie, then we wouldn’t have such a need for CB in the draft. I’d rather not have 3 of our top 4 corners being 1st or 2nd year players.

If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
They will tag him on Feb 25. Garauntee it.
This is just Rick’s way of jerking his chain.
If they don’t tag him they have to go and address the issue in the draft or FA, but they will pay more in FA for a comparable CB.
Rick will Franchise him on Thursday. He just wants to mess with his head a bit right now.
Rick’s Doghouse in full effect.

God, I hope not...
You really think they’ll pay him $12 Million for one year? I wouldn’t be shocked if Rick makes him an offer for a contract, but not seeing the tag for Dunta.
They should tag his car
“Rick paid for this.”

Agreed
The Transition tag makes more sense than the franchise tag. It’ll make other teams less likely to look at him and give us a chance to jerk his chain a little longer. I still think we should not let him play next year.

Teams will look at him
Dunta could still field offers from other teams. The Texans would just gain the right to match any offer. If the price is right then they match the deal and keep him without ever having to negotiate with him.
If no team showed interest then Dunta still makes $12 million regardless of F or T tag.
I don't have a problem with him leaving
I prefer most, if not all, of the first or second round corners to Dunta. However, I’d trade any of them for a real nose tackle, and if we have to keep Dunta to get a nose tackle then so be it.
agree completely
but the timing doesn’t work out to make this happen.
We don’t know who will be available at 19, and we have to decide on the tag by Thursday.
And there appears there will be a run on DTs this year.
Mount Cody in round 1
Silver lining
If Dunta goes elsewhere, then the Texans have a void in the roster that they will look to fill using the draft, possibly. And, with Dunta going to another team, that’s one less team they have to compete with for that draft choice.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
will we know if he's sticking around by the time of the draft?
could he jerk us around by waiting to resolve his contract?
or we’ll know by the time the draft hits if he’s with us?

Maybe
As an UFA he can sign with another team after March 5. So, if he does that before the draft, then he is gone. Someone feel free to check me on this. If he is unsigned by another team, after June 1, the Texans have the right to send a tender to retain exclusive negotiating rights until June 22. However, the Texans can retract the tender by June 15 if the player has not accepted it. Now, what happens after June 22? I don’t know. I could use some help on that. Keep in mind, I am just reading and reprinting what I read somewhere else. I’m no authority.

I'd imagine
If he becomes an UFA, he’ll get signed pretty quickly once free agency begins as he’ll be one of if not the most sought after CBs in this year’s free agency crop. All it’ll take is one of the big spenders to get involved and offer him a deal no one else wants to match… He’ll probably end up being one of the most overpaid players in the NFL.
That’d be my guess.
no LT?
i’m surprised we didn’t even give him a look.
