March Mock Madness
As draft season is underway, a lot of mocks are going on. After the jump there's an update from 29 different mocks (of varying length and updated within the past month) from around the Interwebs. Mocking the Draft (Picked from their in-progress 7-round mega-mock): S Taylor Mays (1), CB Chris Cook (2) [Writer's note: Mocking the Draft really needs to get an actual BRBer doing the picks. This is a horrible draft.]

Big Cat Country: OG Mike Iupati
WalterFootball.com (3 different mocks):
FS Earl Thomas (1), RB Jonathan Dwyer (2), CB Patrick Robinson (3), DT Mike Neal (4)

FootballsFuture.com: DT Dan Williams (1), CB Kareem Jackson (2)

It's a TE! This sounds entirely plausible now!], DE Austen Lane (4; +13 value), FS Myron Lewis (5; -7 reach), DT Brandon Deaderick (6; +3 Value), OG Marshall Newhouse (6; -17 reach), FB Jason Harmon (7; +23 value).

Lance knows how to get reactions....
My reaction….I better take a look at Ryan Mathews. I know Pancakes has been boosting him up. Maybe there is something to it.
I will go check out Mathews, but from everything I have seen about what this team needs, I still like one of the OTs that will be available at 20. Seems many really like Charles Brown from USC and there is a strong possibility he will be available. I think we have to fix the O-line before we can start to think we can be a running team. If the pick is a defensive player, I like the idea of getting stronger up the middle with one of the NTs out there. That guy has to fall to the Texans, though.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Do they get monkeys to hurdle poop at names on a board to do these picks? 5 ppl think Spiller will be there at 20? Taylor Mays isnt going to play free safety that doesnt even make sense. Haden at 20? Seriously? A WR in the 2nd round? Did they even look at our roster?

If Spiller did fall to 20, it'd make sense
But I’m with you there. It just won’t happen.
Some people are wondering if Haden’s slow time will result in a Malcolm Jenkins-type slide. It’s not likely, but it is possible.
That entire draft – WR and Iupati falling to the fifth round – made no sense.
I don’t think it is poop-flinging monkeys, but retarded manatees. The Dwyer in the first contingent is a whole new level of stupid though.
Former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah
Compares the Haden slip (for now) to Brandon Flowers in 2008. The highest rated CB at the time, but ran a slow 40 and slipped to the 2nd round..
A lot of questions will be answered at the Florida pro day..

To be fair though
Flowers was also short so he had two things working against him. Haden is still the best corner whereas those questions made Flowers the fifth (not exact) CB taken in that draft. He may slip, but he won’t even make it to us at 20.

Mocking The Draft
Agreed, the Texan Rep making the picks is Mister28 and he has never posted on BRB. It’s too late, because it’s a done deal. He already blew the draft.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
They have been blowing our picks for awhile
A couple people have tried to talk some reason into them but they don’t seem to want to listen.
Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
If our guys are really friends with their guys (Mocking the Draft)
Why won’t they listen and at least pick a BRBer who has an interest and an ear. Mister28? He doesn’t post on BRB which is THE designated SB Nation home of the Texans. Something is wrong with this picture. I’m not saying that if it was me that my pick would meet with everyone’s approval, but at least I would interact and get opinions. I think we all would. I would even be fine with the Texans-picker being you, nolander. At least you post here….
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Hey you had a chance to be a member and denied.
I would have been glad to give it to someone here because I wanted people that were part of this site but I had no one exept him step up.

Pat Kirwans latest mock draft on NFL.com
“20. Houston Texans
Brian Price, DT, UCLA
Price is a very active defensive tackle that some personnel people believe is more like Warren Sapp than Gerald McCoy when they evaluate both. The Texans must come back for a corner in the second round such as Donovan Warren from Michigan or Devin McCourty from Rutgers.”

Guh
I’d bet heavily that Warren will not be there for our second-round pick.

i think he will
And i agree what walterfootball says:
3/3/10: I think Donovan Warren is a terrific player, but he really hurt himself by running a 4.59 at the Combine. He may slip on Draft Day, but whomever picks him will likely land a steal.
They have him projected at the 3-4 round right now.. and i think he’ll definitely be there when we draft in the second
Die hard Texan fan from the heart of Denmark!
Thing is...
he’s faster than the 4.59, and I imagine he’ll show that at pro day/private workouts. More importantly, though, he has the most fluid hips of all the corners in this draft, a good nose for the ball, and good size.
Don’t get me wrong—-I hope I am way off base and he’s there in the second. I just don’t think anyone who puts him in the 3-4 range is considering anything but a single 40 time. (FWIW, he’s run consistently around the 4.4 range since high school.)

Warren ran 4.5 at his pro day.. in borrowed shoes because he actually wouldn’t run but changed his mind.. and he hurt his ankle later on
Die hard Texan fan from the heart of Denmark!
I was just about...
to come back and post that. OK, that’s making it more likely that he’s slowed from his 4.41 freshman 40, but the shoes give a semi-valid excuse.
One other thing to remember with Warren, though, is a lot of scouts and draft boards have him converting to safety. In that situation, his 4.59 is less of an issue than his fluidity/closing speed/instincts. He and Brandon Graham were two very bright spots on a very shitty defense. And at least Graham had Obi Ezeh and Steve Brown around him; in Warren’s case, the drop-off from him to the second-best DB was huge. If you want some real fun, go back and look at the ND game when the entire Irish game plan was “throw at Boubakar Cissoka.”
Full disclosure: I’m a Michigan fan.

haha okay.. that’s why. ;)
About Cissoko. Found this on scout.com.. they have him as a 5 star talent and the third best CB from the 2008 CB class.. he’s not worth the hype? Don’t know him.
Cissoko does not have ideal size, but he maximizes what he does have. He has very fluid hips, he opens up well coming out of his break. He has exceptional closing speed and uses his body and strength to play bigger than he is. he will often over power bigger receivers. Cissoko is as tough as they come, he thrives on the physical aspect of the game. Loves to play press and man-to-man.

When I say ND targeted him
I mean they literally had Clausen find him and throw at his man more or less all day. It was insane and very nearly killed me. Maybe he matures and becomes ok like Morgan Trent did, but I’m not holding my breath.

profootballweekly's latest
20. Houston Texans
DT Dan Williams, Tennessee
Gary Kubiak shocked the league when he drafted Mario Williams ahead of Reggie Bush upon his arrival, and despite having a potentially greater need in the backfield, the Texans’ offense creates running backs. What Kubiak and GM Rick Smith need to do is fortify the interior of the defensive line, and Williams could help greatly in that area.

Houston Texans: Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State
Mike Band: Draft Ace
Conventional wisdom would say that the Texans would pass on a running back in the first round because it doesn’t fit the “M.O” of head coach Gary Kubiak. Expect that trend to change this April. The team fully believes that they are only a few pieces away from legitimate contention. The main focus will be finding a full-time #1 back. Steve Slaton and Arian Foster have failed to show that they can be 20+ carry guys. Meanwhile, Mathews fits this selection maybe too perfectly. At 218 lbs, Mathews ran a 4.45 official time at last week’s combine. He’s a tough, downhill runner who could excel in Houston’s zone-blocking scheme. His production at Fresno State is matched by few and his play certainly warrants first round consideration. Mathews is also coming out as junior meaning he has taken less of a beating on his body than most senior backs in this year’s class. His stock ranges from picks #18-25 heading into his pro day, which fits perfectly for Houston?s #20 selection.
