Battle Red Radio: Gluttons for Punishment
Loyal listeners! We're back and badder than ever. Tonight we embark on our second foray into internet radio where we'll discuss things like Pancakes' love of mutton and Big Bad Brad's lost Tickle-Me-Elmo doll. We might even talk a little Texans football and there's the off chance Matt joins us this week!
via iamyouasheisme.files.wordpress.com
We've moved up the time a bit to 8:30 p.m. CST so Tim can get to bed on time. Tune in and listen to the chaos!

I rec'd this
even though it may involve C&W Ad Rock
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
I can't plan my life around this
With such short notice you wankers.
Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
Lucky for you...
You can listen to the recap later! And maybe one day a podcast if I ever figure that out.
I’m just hoping the player sorts itself out cause right now it’s showing the name for last weeks show.
The internet hates me.

Ask Jonathan from BCC
Two-thirds of the way down on the right hand side of BCC’s front page, they have the Radio player and it also has links to all past radio sessions. I’m sure he could help figure it out.
Embedded Player
Ok so at the moment, the embedded player is playing the first show. I don’t know why and in unshocking news BTR’s online help guide is utter horse shit. So I’m hoping it sorts itself out once the show goes live.
If not, please use the link below the embedded player. I’ll try and sort out these kinks tomorrow.
I think BIGBADBRAD is still pissed MDC posted something negative about Pei-ton and is working hard to destroy the interweb for anything dealing with BRB. Thats my conspiracy theory for today and I’m sticking to it.

re: Mathews
Total Smoke-screen.
Who wants him? San Diego. Why not see if we can get a deal out of them?
Wow
So that’s what a train wreck looks like over a phone. Now I know!

Suggestion (repeated from emails)
Let Jakesphere moderate next time.

Or
we could just make Evan moderate in the style of Jakespeare’s tweets.

Just joking guys. Good job.

Mea culpa
I’ve been in the north for the last 7 years. Some of my Houston-roots have faded.
It’ll never happen again, I promise.

that’s what it sounded like to me.
On a side note I had some Sunday and going to a boil for “work” Thurs….I’m thinking about sending and invite to Jacoby.

an actual football related comment
I don’t think it’s out of the question they go RB round 1. I’m generally a don’t waste 1st round picks on a RB kinda guy, but after you get out of the top ten or so the monetary part isn’t nearly as big of a risk. Denver has used 2nd round picks on RB, and if Kubes had a rule about not taking RB in the first it went out the window with the way the running game struggled.
As long as they are taking a guy they really like as opposed to just getting a RB out of a sense of desperation I would be OK with it. I think help on the line would probably pay bigger dividends long term than a RB would, but that’s speaking in generalities. The Texans might think they might have already done that in FA. So, it will come down to how the front office has people graded.

The line sucking ass in run blocking takes issue with you saying it was the RB's.
Jim Brown would’ve had some serious problems running behind those turds.
Why does this keep getting forgotten?
Bacon tastes good... Pork chops taste good.
RBs are flashy
O-lineman are only integral to the teams success so no one cares.
Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
Where did I day anything about that?
I was commenting solely on whether or not it was out of the question that we would take a RB in the first round. I never said anything about who was at fault for the run game last year…in fact I even said:
I think help on the line would probably pay bigger dividends long term than a RB would
There’s a difference between saying I think Kubiak might be willing to take a RB in the first round and advocating a 1st round RB as a cure all. If it were up to me I would be a very happy man if we took a G, C, OT,and NT in some combination with our first four picks. Everything starts in the trenches….but since my opinion doesn’t mean shit to Smithiak I was just speculating that they might break form. I think a lot will depend on how they feel about Caldwell, Wade Smith, and how the actual players in the draft fall. I can sit in the corner and cry all day about wanting to fix the line, but without the benefit of spending countless hours scouting players(and actually knowing what the hell I’m talking about) I have no way of knowing how a specific player is graded on our draft board.
"Well, at least our players kept their helmets on, so that showed some intelligence"-Bob McNair
A 1st round RB has no value
Considering that they’ll be sharing time with Slaton and probably Foster.
If a back goes in the first round, it should be because he’s special or you’re like San Diego and have a big, gaping hole on the roster.
If we had less holes, I’d say Earl Thomas. Fact is, we have holes elsewhere and a mid-1st round pick should be an immediate starter in a position like G/C, DT, or CB.
I feel fairly confident in saying that the 1st round pick will be a DT (Williams, Price, or maybe even Cody) or CB (Haden, Wilson, or McCourty). Less likely, but I wouldn’t even be too angry or surprised if it was Mike Iupati or Maurkice Pouncey. All 8 of those guys would start immediately and be an upgrade.
I don't disagree with that at all
The problem is for all we know when the coaches graded the O lineman last year they felt they did a good job. That’s not very likely based on what I saw, but without the benefit of knowing what their responsibilities were on each play it’s at least possible that the coaching staff doesn’t view the line as harshly as most of us do when it comes to running the ball. The same could be said for every position on the team. We just don’t know how the coaches REALLY feel about the state of the team…and I think it should be obvious that they have had a vastly different view from the fans on more than one occasion.
It’s entirely possible that Smithiak do view RB as a gaping hole. I am not saying that is the case (in fact I don’t think that all). I’m just saying that I can see a scenario where they would take a RB at 20, or later in the first if they trade back. I wouldn’t necessarily be happy(unless it was a trade back situation), but it wouldn’t involve me buying a new TV. All that’s going to matter on draft day is the Texans draft board not ours anyway.
"Well, at least our players kept their helmets on, so that showed some intelligence"-Bob McNair
Yeah... sorry papa...
My comment was more a general note on the whole idea of “RB in the 1st” we’ve been hearing alot of, and not a direct response to what you’d said. You know I love ya, baby!
I have no doubt that a little more talent at RB would help, but for a first round pick, there are far too many other positions we could get serious upgrades at vs. the current talent on the squad.

no problem
…but I expect a hug.

Leg Hug?
cuz that’s how beefy rolls

Between papabear and beefy?
Can you imagine the friction?

Friction?
With all the hamburger grease between them….IDK about that….
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Only one part of me is made of velcro...
