The Running Back Solution
I know I have been driving the Montario Hardesty bandwagon pretty hard, but I know some people don't exactly know why. Below the jump, there's a video of why he fits so well into our ZBS scheme. Tennessee's switch to Lane Kiffin brought similar schemes to Tennessee that the Texans use. Hardesty really blossomed under the scheme and could provide similar results as a Houston Texan. Catch the fever and hop on board, BRBers!

Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.
looks like hardesty will work well in our offense, really like what i see, also like that LT, he had alot of nice blocks, might be good to look at bringin him in to help our run game
The thing with Hardesty that I don't see from anyone else...
He runs with authority. That kind of back would look good in deep steel blue.
I'll give you that
Hardesty makes a good cut. Plus, it looks like he does a pretty good job of getting low, using his shoulder pads, and protecting his legs. So we see that he can catch, but how is he about fumbling?

I've tried to look for that stat
but no one lists individual fumble stats for college players. Overall, Tennessee only lost 7 fumbles in 13 games…that’s not much to go on, but that’s all I could find.
Apparently, Rivals.com calls Hardesty a good pass blocker.
I like him
if nothing more than he will be taken in the third round. But he looks like a perfect fit.

CBS sports gave some fumble stats on Hardesty
Here’s the link: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/567373
Apparently Hardesty has fumbled 3 times in career (lost 2 of them).

Here's his 2009 fumble stats from that same link
Good ball security. Didn’t fumble the ball once in 285 touches in 2009
And some intangibles:
Characterized as the consummate teammate. Twice voted team captain, including in 2008 when he wasn’t a starter. Convinced team to let him play special teams against Wyoming despite his injuries being too much to allow him to suit up as a running back.
i like him too
But seems to me he lacks the long speed.. he’s a zone/big back i think. But what the heck.. as long as he can get 1 yard!
Here’s a prediction from former scout Daniel Jeremiah:

RT @Everclearboy: Where is Montario Hardesty projected in the draft? > could sneak into the 2nd…mid 3rd at worst
Die hard Texan fan from the heart of Denmark!
Looks good
Running the zone would help him if he came here. I think some of those cutbacks would get him ear-holed in the NFL, but you can say that about any college back. Everyone always talks about “one-cut-and-go” with our scheme, but I think vision is at least equally important. The running back has to be able to see where the hole will be as opposed to hit the a gap.Vision is a little bit of an intangible anyway, but highlight clips make it even more difficult because so many of the plays are the result of huge gaping holes. That being said I do think he looks like a good option.
Sometimes I wish I had access to coaches tape….and had won the lottery so I had enough free time to watch it.

Ok im on the bandwagon now
If we can get him in the third great, but two things one somebody else said already, which is does he fumble? And two how is his pass blocking?
A lot of sites don’t list individual fumbles. On any scouting report, it isn’t listed that he doesn’t have a fumble problem, so with that and Tennesse’s 7 lost fumbles, I’ll assume he doesn’t have a problem more so than any average RB.
Those scouting reports do say he’s a decent-to-good pass blocker. He’s able to read the blitzer, get in front of his man, and stand his ground.
Can we draft him now and save the worries?
Just kidding but he does look good and you now got me likeing the kid. So how about this we get Hardesty in third and turn around move a pick over and get gerhart to in third? I hate to see coke machine go but we need to look for a future fullback, someone like alstott. I hope ppl rembeere that guy.
Looks impressive.

I like a good clip montage
Especially one that shows VA Tech getting embarrassed.
Hardesty does make a sexy cut. Just please hold on to the ball!

Yes, good timing on that comment...
I like this guy Hardesty. His addition would be intriguing. The Texans have the potential to shape up nicely at RB, with some “ifs.”
If Slaton can return to form.
If Foster can repeat what he did in the last two games of the season.
If Moats remains on the team and provides valuable insurance and 3rd down capabilities.
If another guy, maybe Hardesty, can be added to the mix who is also effective, but additionally provides that short yardage ability.
If the RBs, in general, become better blockers on passing downs.
What did I leave out?
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
