Here is the list of Best Available Players in Free Agency up to date according to PFT.

Wide receivers: Terrell Owens, Kevin Curtis, Laveranues Coles, Torry Holt, Javon Walker

Running backs: Brian Westbrook, Ladell Betts, Jamal Lewis, Justin Fargas,

Quarterback: Marc Bulger  (I could list Chris Simms and Josh McCown but . . . eh.)

Tight ends: Randy McMichael, L.J. Smith

Offensive line: Flozell Adams, Shawn Andrews, Chester Pitts, Kevin Mawae

Defensive line: Leonard Little, Cornelius Griffin, Charles Grant, Derrick Burgess

Linebacker: Jason Taylor, Keith Bulluck, Akin Ayodele, Antonio Pierce

Cornerback: Lito Sheppard, Nick Harper, Fred Smoot

Safety: Darren Sharper, Ken Hamlin, Gibril Wilson, Jermaine Phillips

So here are a few questions.

Who would you like to see your Houston Texans sign? Would any of these players signing with the Texans change our draft strategy?

Id

be okay with Lito Sheppard in a veteran corner mentor role.. we only have young guys.. and he’s been very good.. and maybe there’s still some left in the tank.

Darren Sharper would be the intriguing one to me...

Given his history of durability (never played fewer than 13 games in a season) and production, I’d be comfortable with a 2 or 3 year deal.

I'd like Derrick Burgess.

Very consistent pass rusher. Antonio Smith i think is capable of playing DT. Then we are free to draft a CB in the first round.

Burgess or Greg Ellis

Add a veteran pass rusher for depth. It would be interesting if we could get one cheap. Plus, it would allow some breaks for Mario.

I dont think

you will see us sign anyone until after the draft. Most teams are going to operate like that. Fill any depth you didnt get done in the draft with some of these free agents.

It's the smart way of doing it

Not only will you fill needs based on what you drafted, but those guys will probably take less money the more time they do not go signed.

im to the point

where i say F—k it lets sign TO and just outscore everybody. i mean really Andre TO JJ Owen KWalter and a healthy slaton. man plz.

I will most likely get blasted for it but

if I were in the Texans FO I might, just might, be willing to pick up TO at a discounted price for a one year contract and an option for a second year. I think AJ and TO at wideout and KW in the slot might make a pretty good combination. Blast away!

what exactly

do we need TO for? To increase our dropped pass rate?

I thought sharper has been picked up

but guess i was wrong so why are we not all over him again? i know we want young guys but we got youngs guys all over the place lets get a vetrean safty back there to save these young corners asses when they get in a jam.

Because

if the Texans happen to draft Thomas at 20 then you have vets in Pollard and Wilson and Barber to some extent. We still have Troy Nolan that we drafted last year so at this point you don’t need another safety. I like Sharper, don’t get me wrong and if we do not pick up a safety in this draft it might be worth seeing how much he wants for a 2 year contract and have an open competition at FS this year. At this point most teams are willing to wait until after the draft to see what NEEDS they still have to fill.

i think for some reason glover quin

will be great at safety too so how do we make it happen is the question?

Hmmm...

Draft Wilson/McCourty in round 1 then Franks/Jackson/Ghee in round 2…..and maybe another CB in round 5, 6, or 7……we’ll straight up just push him to FS with depth.
