Steve Slaton - The Bionic Man
Nice post by Steph on Steve Slaton's fusion surgery he had during the off-season. Lots of negative comments in the post. However, I had this done about three years ago to my L4 and L5, and it made a huge difference in my quality of life. I can completely see how Slaton would have fumblitis with the disc problems in the neck.
It'll be interesting to see how he bounces back. I don't think anybody questions Slaton's dedication and work ethic, so if any person can return from this surgery, I think he's the one.

You know what else causes you to fumble?
Whenever Kasey Studdard decides to lay on the ground, and then jump up real fast in between your legs.

I have my doubts
My wife has this problem- L3-L4 disc, and I know it’s the kind of thing that’s hard to fix fix. Getting her to walk without pain is one thing, but getting Steve Slaton to be an NFL-quality RB again is another.
Obviously, I loved Slaton when he was in his prime, and in my opinion the best case scenario for us is for him to come back 100% and put a nail in the coffin of the Ryan Mathews hysteria. I just have my doubts.
Part of me has those doubts, too
But the big part wants him to go back to the future of 2008. That is the Steve Slaton we need. I have never wished anyone more good than that guy. I really want him to be back.
Steve Slaton is class! You guys all know. He doesn’t showboat after a TD. He doesn’t point. He hands the ball to the ref like he has been there before. All class!
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
or....
He hands the ball to the other team before he even gets to the end zone. Now that is a generous man!

well, that too, but at least he does it with class...

Like BFD, I had surgery several years ago to fix my herniated L4-L5 disc. And like BFD, it completely turned my life around. I didn’t have access to the kind of state-of-the-art equipment and training that Slaton does, so if I can come through a procedure like that with flying colors, then I have no doubt that Slaton will be better than ever from a physical standpoint.

I'm a huge Slaton fan
So I hope he heals well and can produce. His rookie season gave me many thrills and I want to see them again.

Could be awesome
If Slaton can get close to his rookie production and we can draft a hammer like Toby Gerhart or Anthony Dixon, our offense could be scary.
Rumplestiltskin
I hope that happens.
But if Slaton is not 100% are we to rely on Foster and Moats? I maybe in the minority, but I do see value in getting a RB in the first 2 rounds. I know the Cowgirls are really pissed they have 3 potential starting rbs.
The Cowgirls also have a decent O-line
