LZ Says Anderson was "bulliyng" dickie

I’d have straight up beat his ass.

But I don’ have a contract or a football organization to protect. Still can’t understand how dikie beat the chronicle layoffs.

Could somebody write up a couple highlights?

I hate to sound rude, but I really don’t want to listen to LDJA12 talk.

DA tweeted, asking for questions. I know he got a couple of pretty nice ones.

I caught the end….they bet on the CSU vs Wyoming game. If CSU WINS DA gets to make a shirt including an"idiotic" quote from one of ldja12’s articles. I think somebody needs to send DA a copy of a certain photo essay for inspiration…“in depth” reporting was my favorite.

Wow

DA got to Justice. And quick.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

Justice is right...(hear me out)

his job is to get people reading. Whether they hate him or love him, if you’re reading Justice and reacting to him then he’s doing his job. There are certain douches who just want page views or bought newspapers….so they’ll write crap.

However, DA is right. Newspaper reporting can and should be done both ways – with someone who researches the story to make sure there’s facts in them, who presents both sides of the story to give their reader a full argument rather than using the paper to spread your own agenda, and someone who has a connection to and respects the hometown teams enough to want to see them run right and well. You don’t need to kiss ass to make sure that the fans aren’t getting cheated out of their hard-earned money to support a poorly run team.

Justice has bias, is lazy, and doesn’t seem to have any connection to the Houston teams. Lance wants to say DA is bullying, but Justice needs it.

My beef with LDJA12 is this

He always writes an opinion, and always writes it from a High Horse point of view.

It seems every time he writes something, it is always about why he is right about something. I haven’t clicked on a “Justice” link for over six months because I disagree with the way he writes.

There’s a happy medium between McClain and Justice. We hate on McClain because he’s so soft; he’s a member of the Texans’ boys’ club and rarely offers any real insight that most of us haven’t already figured out—he’s lame for a beat reporter.

Justice is the opposite end of the spectrum. It seems like he gets mad at everyone any time they’re remotely optimistic. He says inflammatory crap, passes it off as fact because he’s so condescending, and then apparently when he gets called out for it, plays the “I’m just stirring the pot” card. I don’t buy it.

Any one of the regular posters I meet here or on a couple of the other websites I frequent could best both of these guys in giving a decent angle at reporting for the Texans.

by krkenney on May 18, 2010 11:04 PM CDT reply actions

There's also the fact...

that they just don’t seem to have a lot of insight into Houston teams.

McClain talks about the Cowboys and Longhorns….spends time on the radio on Tennessee (and Austin and San Antonio and some other towns).
Justice seems to have feuds with every Houston team…..so he likes to wax poetic on the Titans.

And yeah, Houston has a large UT base….and the Cowboys and Titans both have fans in Houston….but come on….If you’re gonna work for the HOUSTON Chronicle then you’d expect them to A) know the teams well (instead of screwing up simple facts) B) respect the Houston sports fan who pours their hearts and wallets into these teams and C) put the Houston fan above the fans of the other teams.

Remember the op ed after the 07 draft where Justice fantasized about how awesome our offense would be if we were starting Reggie Bush and Brady Quinn?

Just thinking about that...

makes me wanna gag. Like gag and gouge out my eyes. Then down some bleach.

Houston deserves a better class of journalist.

I think we need to start a sticky post to keep track of the opinions of Justice

Entitle it “Guaranteed facts as spoken by LDJA12” or “Amnesic musings of Richard Justice”

Then just let one person from BRB check out his postings then cut and paste them over here. We don’t want everybody going to the Chronicle to read it or he gets a lot of page hits, and that is what he wants.

Then it’ll be easy to keep track of what he thinks and when he changes his mind.

This would require someone to pay attention to Richard Justice

And talk about the suicide mission you’re picking this poor BRB’er for.

another idea

Would like to see a BRB Blogger have a lengthy mano-a-mano interview with Richard Justice and publish it right here on BRB. riversmccown, I nominate you for that, but if Tim so deems, I would accept any BRB Blogger to carry out the dirty deed.

As a matter of fact, if a BRB Blogger doesn’t do it, I will take it upon myself to go to Justiceville and perform the exorcism myself…

I dislike Dickie for one reason:

He is a bad journalist. There are many subcomponents to this, but they all come back to that single point.

My problem with LDJA12

Is how much he flip flops and how he seems to be controversial just for the sake of being controversial. If I though there was any honest insight or criticism in there I would still read him, but I’m not going to give him the page views when he’s doing it just because he thinks it makes him edgy and might get him another gig on PTI. I’ve got zero problem with criticizing the Texans as long as it is honest criticism. Most of his seems driven from a personal feud like his ongoing Rick Smith drama, especially after his good buddy Dan Reilly got fired. Same thing there, there’s plenty to make a case against Rick Smith with, but he doesn’t do it. He talks about what an idiot Smith is for firing my buddy the best strength coach in the league. He doesn’t make a case for why Reilly is better than the new guy….he just whines and pouts. Taking up for your buddy is fine. Spending weeks writing about a story that nearly every media member/fan looked at once and then moved on is ridiculous. Justice repeatedly tells us what a jerk Smith is and how his ego is hurting this team, but won’t provide anything to back it up other than “trust me, I know people”. If he’s got info he’s not at liberty to discuss then he shouldn’t bring it up to hoard over us that he knows more than we do.

I do admit that Richard is likely doing his job just the way the Chronicle wants it, and for the majority of casual fans that’s fine. Doesn’t mean I don’t expect a little more.

I want the media to be hard on the local teams, but I expect them to do a better job of it than a 12 year old kid yelling you suck every time the Texans do something they don’t like. Maybe even a little actual reporting….you know dig up facts, make well thought arguments, point out the difference between facts and rumors, maybe even talk to some stat experts with new ways of measuring on field performance to provide a little insight. If only the Texans could find someone like that. Oh wait….that would be Steph.

That whole encounter looked bad for both of them.

Juvenile, petty and not really entertaining.

I do find it ironic though that a journalist was taking offense to being criticized when what he does ALL DAY EVERY DAY is issue criticism.

LDJA12

My gripe with him is low effort, I really don’t care what his take is on any particular issue, but if you have a job that get’s you access to the players and staff, why don’t you use it to do a little research once in a while. When guys on this board with little if any personal access to the players get more facts into their blog posts, why can’t LDJA12 get a few facts. As much as Doublestack bugs me, I atleast respect him for doing the work. I cant say the same of Justice.

Agree

Pancakes is the team stenographer. He reports straight news, and he reports what the team says.

LDJA12? Well, as I’ve said before, I think he writes more like a 12-year old girl with a mean streak who the boys won’t talk to. Kinda like Heathers, I guess.

Also

McClaine is a story-teller. LDJA12 covets that job. However, McClaine strikes me as an amiable sort, and would probably be enjoyable company while having a couple of beers. Consequently he probably has amassed a collection of stories to regurgitate. Whereas LDJA12 seems like the uptight prick that everyone avoids. Consequently, he has no personal stories to relate. Just second-hand stories about the Redskins and Texas Rangers.

I finally listened to the segments...

DA is friggin hilarious.. I love the comment, “Richy just went from 6-12 talkin bout Casey Studdard” and LDJA12 takes it right “Yeah i have a picture of him with his shirt off, and Frank [Okam]”

and then when Richy is talking about Trevor Hobb, DA says, “YOU’RE NOT HERE TO KISS PEOPLE’S BUTTS RICHY, WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOUR SUPPOSED TO WRITE ABOUT!”

It was nice to see LDJA12, after blowing up, calmed down. DA is just friggin hilarious. LDJA12 gets slight props!

and at first I thought they were joking around. Justice’s voice even cracked a little. Good for DA for calling the guy out for his douchebaggery.

I dislike Richard Justice

I get his point in some aspects but the fact remains that he is a huge douche. He could and should do his job alot better than he does. Houston deserves much better than this guy. We don’t have a very good newspaper to begin with but our writers have got to be some of the worst. I like David Anderson and thought he came off alright in this interview. I know he was just getting at RJ which is cool by me. I hate that RJ still writes about VY but I also hate when McClain writes about the Cowboys.

I wish someone would fire both of them and get us some better reporters in H-town.
