World Cup Open Thread for 6/12

Seems there's this soccer thing and stuff going on today, so here's an open thread for the remaining games today (yes, the inspiration just hit, me, and I am that slow).  There's a particularly big one for us Americans, so I'm told.

War Cry of the day goes to @InTheBullseye:

Gratuitous soccer fan pic after the jump.

Like I said on Twitter...

I was thinking of watching the USA whoop some English ass in the World Cup…but that buzzing sound is just too much…and the fact that it’s still Soccer may be a bit too much as well…

But, go USA, regardless!

I'll watch it like I watch Tim McCarver called baseball games...

…on mute.

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

Yeah...

Between Joe Morgan, Jeannie Zelasko (sp?), McCarver, and the always execrable Bud Selig, MLB seems to go out of its way to make stupid decisions.

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

Of hearing “he fisted it” over and over?

Rudimentary creatures of flesh and blood, you touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding.

I'm worried

Our team does not seem very synchronized in warm-ups. Can’t any of them keep a rhythm???

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

hahaha

agreed

Some people say "If you can't beat them, join them". I say "If you can't beat them, beat them", because they will be expecting you to join them, so you will have the element of surprise.

I'm sorry, but this is the only football I recognize

I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but you appear to be unarmed.

USA 1, England 1

A Texas native (Clint Dempsey of Nacogdoches, TX) scored the first USA goal in the World Cup in a 1-1 tie with England.
