Bernard Pollard on 1560 The Game
Ok, at first I was going to make this just a Fanshot, and post the link (Here it is), but I decided to write a few words first. Now, not because it's necessary at all, but just because I feel like it, here's a jump.
WOO! THAT WAS EXCITING!
Anyway, on to what I wanted to make this post about: the mindset of the Texans defense as stated by Bonecrusher. First off, if you listen to any interview with Bernard and don't have to noticeably force yourself to calm down, you need to stop posting here since you're probably not human and I don't want some strange robot spying on me. Just listening to a short interview with the man makes it easy to see why he came in and became an instant leader of the D.
Hearing him say he'd be ok with taking a fine for going helmet to helmet with another guy, just to set the tone, is the type of 'swagger' (as much as I hate to use that overused word) that we've always said we wanted to have, and haven't to this point. Given, there's a huge difference between saying something on a local radio show and putting those words into action on the football field, but for some reason, I'm not too worried about it when it comes to Pollard.
Whether it's team-wide or just words from Bernard, the BIGGEST difference between last year at this time, and this year seems to be the attitude of the team. Last July, do you remember what even the players themselves were saying? I can't give you a verbatim quote, but I remember hearing more than once that they were really excited about getting a winning season and making it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Ok, they hit 50% of those goals, but I guaran-damn-tee that neither the Colts or the Saints were looking for 'winning seasons' last year.
Actually hearing one of the players from the team we all know and love come out and say they're gunning to not only make the Super Bowl this year, but are EXPECTING to win it made me want to jump out of my car in the middle of the traffic on 610 this evening and do a freaking dance while I screamed my head off. THIS is the mentality that the Texans have needed since day one, and they just haven't had it. Maybe they just needed a winning season(maybe that's part of it? I know they're a young team, but dammit, they should've had this mentality from the get-go), or maybe they just needed Casserly to leave so they could finally draft and sign some guys like Brian Cushing and Bonecrusher, but thank Durga the winning mentality finally seems to be taking root.
It's about damn time.

Pollard’s attitude is the type of mentality it takes to win that Lombardi trophy.
I know he will do what it takes to win it.
The way he dealt with Jackson, Young, Welker, Brady, Wayne, and Manning last year showed that actions follow attitude and produce results.
Go Bonecrusher!
He’s always open. He catches a lot of balls. He’s un-guardable, no matter how old he is
