Texans Sign Aaron Glenn
NOTE: Bumped to front page. Thanks, EHTR.
Free agent CB Aaron Glenn will announce his retirement after signing a one-day contract with the Texans.
The 15-year veteran hasn't been more than a bit player since 2006. Glenn, a three-time Pro Bowler, spent the better part of his career with the Jets, but he's chosen to retire with his hometown team instead. He finishes his career with 41 interceptions and six TDs in 205 games.

I'm glad to hear this. Glenn was at one of my basketball games this past year, because I was playing his son!

A little odd considering...
he hasn’t played a game in two years, but kudos to Aaron Glenn for being the first “one day contract and retiree” in franchise history.

im sure pitts
and Kris Brown will end up doing the same…

Not sure Brown deserves it.
Especially after this year.

no question that he does
its easy to look at the bad but there were years upon years where the only chance of scoring we had was to get ourselves in field goal range.
Winning season... Check. Higher expectation bar... big Check.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves
Brown was mediocre for 5 years, great for 3, and horrible for 1.

There is nothing wrong with being a mediocre kicker though.
Steady beats crappy any day.

That's ridicolous
He may have had a terrible year last year, but he’s been from the beginning and was one of the few bright spots on the team.

Gary Walker....
Seth Payne….Jamie Sharper…..Kailee Wong…..Marcus Coleman…..etc……a bunch of those guys retired.
"Lord, beer me strength."
Block out the offense....
the defense wasn’t too bad. Woulda looked better with Julius Peppers at 3-4 OLB though….
"Lord, beer me strength."
Thanks for that...

Didn't he actually sign with someone else?
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
Yes Carolina I think, but didn't make the roster
Read an article about him recently and he is still working out hoping for another chance in the league. I hope something good happens for him, he had such a sudden and tragically unfortunate ending to a seemingly star studded career.

Thanks...thought it was Jacksonville after us, but wasn't certain
And I fully second the sentiment wishing Barbaro well in whatever his future endeavors may be.

He's in the UFL now
Florida Tuskers with other Texans such as….Milford Brown and Seth Wand.

DeMarcus Faggins, Ahman Green, Jeb Putzier, Brandon Frye (Omaha Nighthawks)

Nice info TDC - Thanks
The UFL had completely slipped off my radar. One of the “benefits” of the aging process.

Not a problem...
it just took a drink to get through seeing all those former “cornerstone” linemen on UFL rosters.

We've come a long way since the days when guys like Seth Wand
were counted on to be our foundation. What a bust he was.

AG was a great guy.
glad he decided to sign and retire… if you recall, after leaving us he joined the cowgurls. glad to bring him back into the fold.

Seems wierd...
but OK. I always thought it was stupid when the Texans got rid of him. He proved me right when he went and made plays in Dallas the next year.
first player jersey I got
Was Glenn’s. He was possibly the most enjoyable player to watch for me during the first years. This news makes me very happy.
Thanks Aaron, for everything!!

A Bit of Aaron Glenn History
A little miscellaneous History on a Great Guy; I remember playing PeeWee Football with the dude in Humble…He was just like Barry Sanders, Quiet Demeanor and one hell of a running back…dude was awesome… and then playing against him when he was at Teague & Nimitz…dude continued to be unbelievable. And I am sure most of you remember (whether you are an A&M fan or not) that he was a prolific punt returner as well(See Below)…Congratulations to Aaron Glenn on a great professional career
Courtesy of A&M Website
AARON GLENN – DE (1993)
• Glenn was a consensus All-American as a senior in 1993 and was the runner-up for the Thorpe Award. He was named co-special teams player of the year with teammate Leeland McElroy by Sports Illustrated and was the consensus SWC defensive player of the year. Glenn also led the nation in punt returns, averaging a school-record 19.9 yards per return with two touchdowns. As a senior, he broke up 13 passes and had three interceptions. As a junior, he broke up an SWC record 20 passes. Glenn was a first round draft choice by the New York Jets in 1994.

Glenn History
Played in that same PeeWee system HAPWFL Vikings he Aaron played for the Saints. Really glad to hear this news about an old friend. Really great person, and just and all around guy great job Texans you got this one right….
Do you remember
Charlie Emerson? I was really good friends with him before he moved away, he played with the vikings during that time (82~84). I remember PeeWee being so much fun. The first year I played we were off of 1st street and the next year we moved over next to the Prison/Dump…We made the Taxpayers pay for our new stadium and we demanded higher salaries! oh wait that was another league
Anyhu…That is quite cool that Aaron made it…Good Stuff
That figures...
Only the A&M website would call Glenn a DE instead of a DB.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
A little more A.Glenn Nostalgia
Besides beating the Cowboys the first game of the regular season in 2002 (FUCK YEAH)…this was my second fondest memory in the Houston Texans Inaugural season
Something we all wish we could have done…Almost single handly winning a NFL Game

Whoop!
I know that’ll irk all the Texas fans here, but that’s all I have to say. Aaron Glenn was a great football player—for the Aggies and the Texans. He’s one of my favorite players in franchise history.
SO...........
What Jersey will David Carr be wearing when he retires? Better yet would the Texans sign him to a 1 day contract?
Feeling the five stages of grief since 2002.

He's going to be a hand model after he retires from football
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
