Over-Hyped Texans
There have been a few over the years. This may bring back bad memories, cause nightmares and knock a few off the wagon, but hey, we have very little time left before the Texans are on the field doing what they do best....prepare for that first game of the season! So, who is your pick for most over-hyped Texan? I won't even define what over-hyped is. I'll let you do that....

Babs
i felt a little pity for Carr, for the first time. no pity for Babin.
Don't ask me! Ask Google, you dumb Yahoo!
I had to go with....
Carr. Although Green was a close second.
Boselli was a question mark when they grabbed him due to his injuries. From what I remember all the articles mentioned “if he recovers from his injury”.
I don’t remember Babin at all though.
Just my $.02

There's a lot of perspective involved in "over-hyped"
I suppose you have to consider that being over-hyped is just as much the fault of the press, the team, and the fans as it is the player. Certainly, the player is part of it, because if they don’t perform, well that is where the “over” part of it all comes in. The player performs up to the hype and it’s not over-hyped.
I suppose that is what I was thinking. Boselli never performed at all. And, yes, that may not be his fault. But he was hyped. Carr, certainly was hyped, and he may have been hyped more than any other player in Texans’ history. Babin, got hyped because of how the team reached for him all around that stupid trade. Sure, he didn’t ask for it, but he was hyped. Like I said, there is an element of others’ expectations wrapped in there.
So, I said I wouldn’t define over-hyped, but I guess I couldn’t help myself. I’d be glad to hear what y’all have to say about that.
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
To me....
you pretty much defined how I feel about over-hyped, with a few twists/personal thoughts. I feel like over-hyped also has to do with a player that has all kinds of praise heaped on him by the media with no caveats what so ever and then he comes out and just does not perform to that level
ever. See Carr.
That was why I couldn’t go with Boselli because the media made a point of mentioning his injuries and that if he can come back from the injury, etc….well he didn’t, so to me he wasn’t over hyped.
And I must have been in a really dark place because I do not remember Babin at all; what spot we drafted him, how he played, hell, even what position he played. I could go look it up, but it wouldn’t help because I don’t remember even seeing him play.
I also gave a hard look at Casserly and Capers because they were hyped in the media as being ones that would “do this right” (this being an expansion football team) How they weren’t going to spend allot of money in the expansion draft and instead build through the college draft….but then they didn’t build shit.

Excuse the brain fart....
ever was supposed to be emphasized….not quoted.

Voted for PBuch
BUT, Moulds got a shitload of press when he was signed, and he was always crap.
A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

I can't believe
Fred Bennett, Jacoby Jones, Steve Slaton, or Sage Rosenfells wasn’t on the list.
I like Steve Slaton even after the terrible year last season, but he was dearly overhyped as a top tier all purpose RB in the league. Even at his best in his rookie season he was a one, or maybe two, dimensional player. He’s a nice piece to have in the backfield but he’s not now nor has he ever been the total package he was hyped into being before last season.
Fred Bennett was hyped as an up and coming “shut down” CB after his first season and has struggled to even get on the field since.
Sage was considered the best QB on the roster over Schaub by a fairly large portion of the fan base untill he self destructed when forced into action.
And good ol’ Jacoby Jones, even now is being hyped as a legitimate #2 WR and big time play-maker, and he hasn’t ever caught more than 27 passes in a single season, and he’s “turned the corner” maturity wise yet even this past season he was told to stay home by the team because he couldn’t manage to make team meetings on time.
They,re on the list
See “Other”

Well
Carr did average to mediocre (emphasis on mediocre, I suppose) with a horrible situation. Babin was strictly a draft bust. But Buchanon was someone we presumably thought was good, gave up a lot for, and did absolutely nothing. So he wins.
got to go with boselli cuz he never touch the field of play ever. i know ppl are going to say carr but im no going to knock him cause he was the bestqb coming out of college and if boselli whould have been there to protect him who knows what would have happen. So yes im sticking to Boselli for the most overhyped.
What, no Mario Williams?
He’s clearly lacking the intensity to play this game well all the time. Swagger, you might call it.

He's up there.

Babin.
We gave up so much to get him.
"You got to believe in yourself. Hell, I believe I'm the best-looking guy in the world and I might be right."- Charles Barkley
Sage Rosenfels
Especially since he had a whole contigent of the fan base chanting his name when we had the Schaub on the field. That is the epitome of over hyped.
If there is one name metioned above that I thought about, but hesitated on, it was Rosenfels...

Went with Buchanon because he didn't even try to play here
It was obvious he didn’t want to be here from day 1. His whiffs on tackles were nauseating. Dude just had no heart. Thanks Casserly for him and Babin. Those 2 trades either set us back a couple of years, or expedited your exit. Either way, it was great to get rid of Casserly even if he did a ton of damage on his way out the door. CBS should wise up and send you to the bench too.
