Waiting to Prevail

I hate to say it, but I think there is a good chance that the remaining two Houston Texans rookies who haven't signed, SECers Ben Tate and Kareem Jackson, could be the difference between the Texans being a playoff team and a playoff also-ran this season.
Ben Tate, a 2nd-rounder is coming in with high expectations to a position of great unknowns. The Texans run game literally was grossly ineffective last season, with the exception of the Buffalo game with a departed Moats against a team that re-invented the swinging-gate defense (thank you Phillip Buchanon for that) and the last two games when Arian Foster stepped up solid. But who out there is thinking, "Money!" Not many.... We can't forget about Stevie Slaton, returning from off-season surgery to correct his disk problem, while we are also hoping that it corrects his putting the football to the ground problem, too.
And, 1st-rounder Kareem Jackson is a solid CB from a solid college program, Alabama, who fits the system, and who has already been designated a starter before ever suiting up for a game or even a scrimmage! Who is he displacing for that starting spot? Brice McCain? Jacques Reeves? Ha!... let's go with the rookie and keep our fingers crossed.
So, with less than a week to go before training camp and neither rookie being signed, I expect it to happen soon. I think we need these guys in camp. Wandering minds may be more hyped up about BRBpalooza right now, but the Texans have important business to be expedited this week!. Let's hope Smithiak is working diligently to put pen to paper and get Jackson and Tate into camp. This team is so young and talented and it seems like it is getting even younger. The Texans need their future now.

if Ben can get Running game going
we got to be playoff contenders, and a one armed monkey would have done better than what we had starting for us last year so a rookie coming from a pro style defense that fits our scheme, oh yea! beware Manning.
living the Texas dream
yes but,
Remember Cushing last year? He missed the first practice didn’t he? Didn’t they get his deal signed basically the day of training camp? I am not to worried…Smithiak has a good record of getting their picks out at camp when they need to be there.
Cushing missed two days...
and he’s the only Smith pick to miss any camp time.
Good track record, but at the moment we have two unsigned picks a mere 16 hours before camp.
