Didn't get to make an additional point

But, the fact is, there is NO accountability at the Comicle. Justice can be an obnoxious misogynist with no repercussions. Here? We lose readers. Big difference.

Exactly, It's beneficial for Justice to be obnoxious

since it’ll move pap—-err, get page hits.

Okay, i see a lot of blogwriters here,

So let me ask these dumb questions. Why do you all act so envious of him? Why don’t you just ignore him? Why do you speak out against him? Why do you emulate him?

I’m too sexy for my shirt. Too sexy for my shirt. Too sexy that it hurts…..on the catwalk!……

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

Two things

1. I didn’t bring it up.

2. No Chron link policy.

So, yeah, I think we ignore pretty well.

i have never seen or heard Justice speak or write about you specifically

Why do you think that is? Careful, this may be a trick question….

If Justice wrote about bloggers

By which I mean, individual bloggers, not “bloggers” as a strawman for bad things like some newspaper guys have done, he’d be giving them more attention. That’s the absolute worst case scenario for a newspaper writer. You don’t want your audience to think there are alternatives.

I think I was expecting more from him, is what I was thinking

Plus I was just sticking up for a guy who couldn’t come here and do it himself.

Couldn't

Is BRB now officially blocked by the Chron servers, to where he cannot come her and type comments?

Defending Lebron and Little dickey in the same week? What’s happening here?

Jacoby is my ghostwriter.

by Salad on Jul 9, 2010 7:21 PM CDT via mobile up reply actions

I wasn't defending either

Lebron…I was just impressed by the level of distaste towards him. I agreed that he is an egomaniac.

Justice? I am amazed at the level of distaste and I think that along with what appears to be expressed distaste, there is also a level on envy and other adjectives.

I’m not sticking up for either. I am just observing and asking questions, is all. This is a forum of communication. I hope I am not offending anyone by inquiring. If I get too personal, just tell me to FO….

That's cool

I get the humor in poking Justice. He is a good target. Sometimes it seems a bit obsessive. I actually enjoy listening to him on 1560. He is quirky to the point of being interesting. I don’t read him much. but the few times that I remember reading, I wouldn’t have thought it was the same person.

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

by Rip Jersey on Jul 9, 2010 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

No envy for Justice on my part....

just a demand for better journalism (I admit that he’s decent on the radio) by the “bigwig” at the only newspaper in America’s 4th largest city. Ever since the competition left, a lot of the Comicle has gotten lazy.

The goal of the media, as I believe, is to report the news and keep the fatcats honest…….the goal of the readership is to make sure the media is doing its job (by reading/watching or not).

I think the other point

That could have been made is that having access can actually reduce your accountability. If you’re worried that you’ll lose access, you’re going to change what you say, even in subtle ways, because you fear losing your access.

Socioligists call this the Peter King phenomenon.

How do we add a new term to the glossary?

Do we have to put it to a vote? Is there some sort of hat we draw names from? BFD = George Costanza. This truly is the summer of George!

I agreed with your comments about blogger accountablity

but, missed a great opportunity to point out that chron.com won’t post a lot of comments, the radio stations just run people, and the TV stations have virtually no way to give feed back. Blogs are by far the most open media out there!!
Even in the Case of BBS, he was called out by the people on his own blog. Every time I have ever made a mistake in a post, it is pointed out and discussed almost immediately, not berried in a retraction in the back of the paper months later! If blogs had the kind of access that the papers, tv, and radio have they would break almost every story first, and give more in-depth coverage!

Thanks, guys

But I have to admit that I didn’t think so. Of course, it COULD be because I’m America’s sweetheart and everybody loves me, and I’m too ignorant to notice. I didn’t really feel threatened in any way, though. Hoff, Nuno, and Wessling, to be sure, all seem like nice guys.
