BRBAPALOOZA: New Venue

As I'm sure everyone was on pins and needles about where a segment of the Texans blogging community would be watching Saturday night's game, I'm proud to announce that we've got a terrific new venue. Details after the jump.

Star-divide

WHAT: Texans v. Cardinals
WHEN: Saturday, August 14th at 7 p.m. CST
WHERE: Cheerz Bar & Grill (2416 Bagby St., Houston, TX 77002)

Cheerz is a new neighborhood bar in Midtown. A friend of a friend owns it, and I visited this afternoon. It's got a number of flatscreenz, plenty of seating, and I think it's going to work out very well for Saturday night. If you don't like it, I'll personally waive your BRB "Insider" feez for the next three months.

If you can't find parking on the street, there will be a valet. BFD insisted on valet service so everyone could see him pull up in his Maybach and be suitably awed. Cheerz has a great menu, and they've generously offered to give us some drink specials--namely, $2.00 domestic drafts, $3.00 domestic bottles, and $4.00 wells.

Sounds fun, don't it? RSVP in the Comments below. The more, the merrier. Unless you're a fan of football teams based in Dallas or Nashville. If that's the case, you should stay home and think about what you've done.

any "special" guests?

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

by Rip Jersey on Aug 11, 2010 6:03 PM CDT reply actions

Yes

I’m told internet personality DisplacedTexan will be there, signing cocktail napkins for a nominal fee from 6:45 p.m. to 6:59 p.m.

Purple ink only, please

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

What is nominal? I recently misplace my wallet....actually, I washed it by accident.

I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

by Rip Jersey on Aug 11, 2010 8:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Used, washed wallets are likely acceptable as payment.

Also acceptable: Used toilet paper, navel lint, and condom wrappers. Condom itself not necessary.

A Texans fan. Really. No, I'm not kidding.

Just to clarify

“Nominal fee” constitutes anything that a hobo might want considering his current state in life.

NO Tim, you can’t stab me for sport.

by DisplacedTexan on Aug 11, 2010 10:33 PM CDT up reply actions

Wish I could be there....

I’m just hoping one of the local sports bars is able to pull it in from somewhere. ‘Cause local stations sure aren’t going to carry it.

Just my $.02
Even duct tape can't fix stupid

by txknight on Aug 11, 2010 6:45 PM CDT reply actions

Well, I'll go...

but I’m not thrilled about picking a bar thats so close to Dallas street. Just feels awkward.

Shiner = domestic

amirite?

If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?

I Think That's A Sound Argument

I assume it to be true, and I’ll back you on it.

JD is one of the few things from Tennessee welcome here

Irony is that Houston is named after a former Tennessee senator, who became our first president. Guess all the smart ones left Tennessee for Texas in the early 1800s & left all the dumbasses there

I would challenge you to a battle of wits, but you appear to be unarmed.

There have to be a few perks in hell. Or the locals would all move to Tallahassee.

Re: Minors

Unfortunately, it’s a non-starter. Management is very apologetic about it, but they’re sticking to their guns about all customers being 21 or over.

Sorry about this.

He wasn’t dressed for the night practice I went to last week, so I will have to wait for Saturday….

WR Trindon Holliday
(on what he has been doing to earn a spot on the roster) “At night I just study my books, and then do what I have to do.”

(on what he hopes to show the coaches in Arizona) “In Arizona I just hope to come out, show the coaches I’ve been studying and that I know what I have to do.”
