Kubes: I've Talked To Aaron Schobel
"I've talked to him the other day and had a great visit with him. I think it's just the matter of what Aaron wants to do."

I wonder
If he thinks he’s worth more money than what the Texans are offering, and weighing other teams offers
Or if its true that he’s lazy when it comes to practicing and just wants to wait as long as possible to avoid camp/preseason.
AOTA
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
LZ just said Schobel to Texans not looking good #trustme on Twitter
no details…I would guess $$$$$

If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?

I think we should sign him,
if he is willing to take a small paycheck. This would be a great back up for Mario just in case something happened to him.

McNair not McCheap at all....
McTexans are just senseable. I do ant Aaron but we don’t need to overpay.

How can the Texans claim to emulate the Patriots if we overpay on grey-haired DEs?
And they already have two starting DEs who were outstanding last year and are fully in their prime, plus they have a young stud third DE ready to break out this season?
Schobel at anywhere near his current pay rate of over $8 mill is unpossible!
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
fully agree RJ
If Scoebel wants to be reasonable and take half of that, which is fair because he will only be a situational player, then yes. As TDC said can’t pay starter money for a backup.
It took the Astros 44 years to get to the Series, the Oilers-Texans are due to get to the big dance...Go Texans!!!!!

I don't see why we can't just sign him to a non-capped-season-friendly-contract.
If he wants his money, sign him for two years, front-load most of it this year, pay him a lot less next year.
I don’t understand why more aren’t doing this.
"why more aren't doing this"
Because even in the uncapped year, there are still restrictions against this exact scenario.
Someone posted it about 6 months ago, but there are only certain percentage changes in salary from year to year right now….thus, it is not allowed to front-load a contract.
If the Treasury Secretary doesn't have to pay taxes, then why do I?
Partially correct
The scenario is that a player can only get a maximum raise in salary of 30% in a contract renegotiation sense. You could still front-load the first few years though.
New contracts, to my understanding, can be structured any way.
Why people aren’t spending, even the Dan Snyders and Jerrah Joneses, is that A) people expect a cap to go in so they’re acting as if they have a cap and B) With 2011 being such a huge question mark….no one wants to do a whole bunch of new contracts.
As far as Schobel goes, the Texans don’t want to pay a 4th DE “big bucks.” Good as Schobel may or may not be, he’d be a reserve. Maybe he is the target and bringing in all these DEs are negotiation ploys, but I don’t fault them for not giving a back-up big bucks.
"Lord, beer me strength."
eh, who cares?
if we get him it’s a luxury, if we don’t then it’s all the same and I’m still happy… it’s not like we’re arguing about if we really need him or not, but rather if we want him

It feels so good...
To be able to say that for a change doesn’t it?
Finally…being a Texans fan means being more about common sense than big bucks for guys we don’t need!!! FINALLY!
Agreed
