There Is A God! (PROOF!)
As of the Mothership's Story,
Line change: Wade Smith
, an offseason free agent acquisition from the Kansas City Chiefs, will start at left guard in favor of Kasey Studdard
on Saturday. Smith, Studdard, Antoine Caldwell
and Mike Brisiel
will rotate at the two guard positions for the first three quarters.
Kubiak goes on to say some more..
"He's got a lot of ability," Kubiak said of Smith. "He's shown flashes that he belongs as a starter-type player, but we're looking for the same consistency from either he, Kasey, Gump (Caldwell) and Brisiel. We're continuing that battle and they've all been good, but we're looking for the two that are going to be great."
and as a final noteworthy tidbit,
Brisiel also will take snaps at center in the third quarter with Brett Helms
sidelined by an injury. Kubiak said that Myers, who played well in the preseason opener, has not locked up the starting center job at this point.

Caldwell's nickname is Gump?
Speaking of Caldwell I’d like to see him take some snaps at C. You know, for kicks. He was the C for El Saban.

Okay, the only good thing out of this, IMO, is that no one has locked down a position
Competition is still the name of the game. What I don’t like is who is competing. If any of these players were cut tomorrow, there’s enough tape on them that they would go unemployed by the the NFL, the USFL and the CFL. They might have a chance at getting picked up by the Arena League, but that’s it. Sorry for being so harsh, but that is the way it is. I don’t know all there is to know about football, but I know what my eyes tell me. None of these players can move another player on the gridiron. Since when was that quality completely overlooked when drafting and signing FA O-Lineman? I’m complaining, yes. I don’t see any means of remedying the situation in the near future, yes. If this FO doesn’t take the necessary steps to do everything they can this coming off-season, I am going to climb to the top of Reliant Stadium and shout, “This is bullshit, and I’m not going to take it anymore!!!” Then I’m jumping!
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
Its only a game

You don't sound very convincing, still jumping.....

Whew.
I noticed that a lot of people were slightly worried after the first preseason game because of Studdard’s showing. I felt the opposite: a great feeling of relief, because if he keeps this up, there’s no way in hell Kubiak can even consider starting him at guard.
The winner
Will be a master of mediocrity, with flashes of ineptitude.
