Kaye Cowher, Bill Cowher's wife, has passed away, losing her battle against skin cancer. I didn't know Bill Cowher, but I literally have rubbed elbows with him while I was in Pittsburgh. By all accounts he is a very good man and a helluva football coach. I have followed the Steelers as a fan since before their first Super Bowl. Cowher said in a statement, "Kaye was the rock that we could all lean on in the tough times." In addition to being that rock of the family she was an accomplished basketball player in her own right, being a part of the fledgling Women's Professional Basketball League.

Sad, sad news.
