Second MNF Open Thread
I realized that the Texans take on all four Monday Night teams, so there is opportunity for us to learn something about our opponents. What have we learned after the first game?
There's a Rex Ryan-sized lack of offense in New York, and they can't cover everyone - especially the tight end.
Against Baltimore? Heavy pressure can do wonders, but that was a bit more obvious.
Here's an open game thread #2 for the second Monday Night game, also between future Texans opponents: Week 6 foe Kansas City hosts Week 9 foe San Diego.

How do the Jets fuck up so badly?
Rex Ryan forgot he had to coach offense as well?
They just aren't a good team
in general.

I think I like KC...
That is gonna be a damn-good defense, if not this year, the soon. If I could poach all of the talent from one sub-.500 team in football, it would be the Chiefs. DJ, Dorsey, Berry, Flowers, and Carr would all look reeeaaal nice in Texans uniforms.
If the Chiefs get a NT and OLB Pass rusher in the off-season
I’d pencil them in the playoffs for the next few years.

That game still worries me.
They’re the same team as last year. Great defense, good running game, terrible passing offense. But if we have to grind it out with them, they’re still capable of hitting a big passing play or two while our D is keyed in on the run…
I think we’re a more improved team than they are since last year’s match-up (that includes Pollard, of course), but there’s no avoiding the fact that they fuckstomped us.

can someone fill me on in the vanilla comments? is that what media accuses the Texans of running on offense and defense?
How can you not love a team that does this?
During week 3 of the pre-season
Cowboy fans were talking about how they were going to win and get their season started against the Texans.
They failed. Massively.
The excuse? It was pre-season. They ran vanilla plays. The Texans tried too hard and weren’t vanilla. Vanilla’s become the running gag around here….rightfully so.

It reminds me of how good ESPN could be if they tried….they could back stuff like 30 for 30.

the Colts fans who are here tonight
realize that the release won’t be undone, and we need to move on. Only a certain group of others have decided to make it their mission in life to get a personal apology from Polian for making what he thought at the time was a good decision. And – shocker – he may still prove to be right.
How can you not love a team that does this?
I don't care that much
I have already posted that I think the O-line will strap it up. I am just reflecting. I sthat wrong?
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
By strap it up
do you mean get their act together? I hope that’s the case and I’m fine with people saying that. I’m also fine with people wondering why Polian let Lilja walk. I’m NOT fine with people harping on it over and over and over again… and then other people joining in on the witch hunt, which is what it’s turned in to.
How can you not love a team that does this?
That
wasn’t my intention. I don’t write for SB.
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
Saying you need to just move on is being very "Polian"
we should feel for every decision our team makes.
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
hm
I understand that perspective, but it’s reached a fever pitch in places. That’s what I’m reacting to. And at this point we really can’t do anything about it. IMO we need to rally around the team we DO have, maybe beg for Polian to make a trade / find another gem in the UFL or AFL.
How can you not love a team that does this?
Let's move on
We are pretty much in agreement.
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
I moved on the day he was released

depends how you use them
if you use them to emphasize your points, like “1” (hold up one finger), “2” (two fingers), etc., can be very effective in speeches
How can you not love a team that does this?
it's one part emphasizing
one part nerves. :-) I think I picked it up from public speaking since we had to show passion in some of our speeches, but I do know how to stand there without moving and speak.

So I'll throw it out to make things interesting....
Arian Foster. What does it mean for both teams?
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
But then the TV makes things interesting.
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
For the Colts
it means that they better expect lots of running plays from their next opponents unless they can stiffen up quick
How can you not love a team that does this?
From someone who sees two or three NYG games a year it means
“get yo sh*t together.”
PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
For the Texans, it means they've got a mean play fake generator
For the Colts it means our LBs had their heads in their asses and couldn’t identify runs or make solid hits.

PeaceLoveAndPeytonManning
For one game at least
he looked like the second coming of Terrell Davis. That’s something to celebrate, or alternatively, fear, if its true.
The Texans lines both looked much better to me in preseason than in the past. If the lines are coming together, the Texans will be tough. Foster is ideally suited for the Kubiak/Denver blocking scheme – big, fast, one cut and gone.

New Linkin Park album comes out today!
I wonder if this is going to have some kind of effect on my writing style
"I shall not fear. Fear is the Mind killer. Fear is the little death that leads to total obliteration. I will face my fear and let it pass through me. When the fear is gone, there shall be nothing. Only I shall remain."
-Frank Herbert "Dune" (1965)
May it dissapoint me less then their last two efforts
Have you ever tried just turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?
I've listened to 3 of their new songs, and 2 were utterly worthless in my opinion
But then again, they do tend to have about half of their album be worthless and the other half be gold.
Now I actually quite liked their last album. Not as much as their first couple, but it did have some good stuff that I enjoy listening too.

I like pretty mcuh all of their first album
everything since then has been as you described though, half good half shit, and the songs I think are shit are the ones that everyone loves to play over and over and over and over and over and over and STOP IT ALREADY.

I think you may like this one then. Kind of back to the roots of screaming and such.

Ya, I understand trying to tell a story, but the least they could have done is add atleast some good songs....

Mastodon says
you can do a concept album and a good album all at the same time.

If I die before I wake....
At least in heaven I can skate.
Cuz right now on Earth I can’t do jack,
Without the man upon my back.
