The PC thought police

Ok so here is the deal if you have been off the planet for a couple of days.  The Jets had an issue, there was an attractive lady working their beat this week, and when she was in the locker room they acted like morons and did some cat calling and such.  I'm fine with them getting in trouble for that, I can't do that at my job it’s disrespectful and unprofessional.  So they got a talking to as they should have.  I don't like the incident but it was handled and hopefully will not be repeated.

Here is what I have a problem with.  Clinton Portis made a comment on his radio show about the incident and got a ton of criticism about it, he's now been called a sexist, caveman, and a verity of other things.  It got to the point that he had to make an apology.  So what may you asked caused this uproar?    After the Jump

So here are the evil offensive things that came from his mouth
“I think you put women reporters in the locker room in position to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room. I think men are going to tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman.”
There it is the whole evil thing!  In fact it was so evil that the NFL spokesman Greg Aiello made a point of writing a letter to address both the original issue with the Jets and Portis’ comments.
Going so far as to say this
"The comments are clearly inappropriate, offensive, and have no place in the NFL,…..We have contacted the Redskins and they will discuss the matter directly with Mr. Portis."

Ok so here is my problem.  Read what Portis actually said, he didn’t say what they did was right or appropriate or anything like that he only said that they would “...tend to turn and look and WANT to say something...”  His DID NOT says it was ok, that they should say something, or that he was ok with what they did.  He only said they would WANT to.
He was honest and gave a truthful comment about the situation and got a load of crap for it.   It’s like you saying “guys would want to sleep with any hot girl they see” or “you’ll want that desert when you’re on a diet” you’re not saying they will or that it’s ok or anything like that, just stating an observation about human nature.   And just because someone wants to do something doesn’t mean they will, should or even can.  And last time I checked it was ok to want or think whatever you want.
Has it gotten to this that the PC police have so much control that we let them censor our very thoughts, that we can’t give an honest opinion?  I should have seen this coming….BANNED
