Open Game Day Thread: Bucs v. Texans
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans, Sep 2, 2010 7:00 PM CDT
The best part of the last preseason game is being secure in the knowledge that Week One is truly just around the corner. Vanilla becomes chocolate chip cookie dough in a mere ten (10) days. In the meantime, watch the depth chart shake out live from Reliant Stadium at 7 p.m. CDT.
As always, this is your forum to pass along observations and coming-of-age tales as the game rolls on. Hit it.

Is there a player who you think will make a statement tonight and impress?
Sheppard? Henry? Anyone else? Personally, I think Mario Williams will make an impression on a bench somewhere in the back row….as he prepares for the disassembly of Manning
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?

I'd like to see Bentley or Sharpton making some big plays
Put their foot forward for the starting LB role for games 1-4.
Beyond that, (touch wood) no one getting hurt.

I'm at work with sucky internet connection....
and an archaic Dell Latitude D600 going through a severe firewall, so I can’t even think about getting streaming video. Tried once last season through some commercial site and the picture locked up at the 35 second mark and wouldn’t load a damn thing else….in other words, just enough time to get past the damn commercial.
Keep me posted please.

Is Slaton playing today?
Will he get a decent amount of carries?
I believe he and Jerimiah Johnson are going to split carries today.

Sharopton and Nolan
That’s who I’m watching. I also don’t think the kicker competition is even a competition, I’m almost positive they’ll go with Rackers.
no offense mike!

I'm not entirely sure I care if Slaton gets carries at all
although if we need to fumble the ball away and lose the game, we should keep him primed and ready on the bench.

Texans Hold'em... or whatever cheesy subtitle we want to tag it with
1) Own the trenches (protect, open running lanes, pressure)
2) Orlovsky needs to show command of the offense
3) Kick coverage has to improve
4) Someone needs to step up and cover for Cush
5) and on the river… close out a damn game
It's Our Time.... or something...

Two words

Why the fourth pre-season game means relatively little. My only hope is that we avoid injuries and Mario eats a unicorn at halftime. Just for fun.
