About that "we need a huge NT" BS . . .
I have never thought that this was that important, but I finally decided to take a look at other successful teams, starting with the Super Bowl winning Giants. Here's their D line, and I'm not seeing a lot of planetoids:
Barry Cofield | #96 | DT Height: 6-4 Weight: 306
Fred Robbins | #98 | DT Height: 6-4 Weight: 325
Osi Umenyiora | #72 | DE Height: 6-3 Weight: 261
Michael Strahan | #92 | DE Height: 6-5 Weight: 255
Justin Tuck | #91 | DE Height: 6-5 Weight: 274
Jay Alford | #93 | NT Height: 6-3 Weight: 304
So, can we stop with the "our guys are too small" stuff?

HAHAHA!!!
Wow.
How about, “our guys suck” instead of “there are several all-pros listed here and Justin Tuck is a freak?”
And Fred Robbins was a hella lot closer to 350 than 325 during their run.

it's not just about size
Its about having a run stuffer in the middle with the strength to control the middle. All of our DT rely on quickness. If they don’t shoot the gaps they are I’m trouble. If they shoot a gap, and the run goes through a different hole then the LB is a tough spot of having to fight off a couple of blockers. Teams use it against us (see the NO debacle).
Now, I’m not saying that the nosetacklelust doesn’t get a little carried away around here, but it’s obvious fat doesn’t equal good or Okam would be the answer ( although I thought he was solid last night). Typically though the run stuffer types are bigger guys.
As for the Giants line…that was one of the better d-lines groups you will see. There DT’s were bigger than ours. Our defensive ends are actually probber bigger than average…what i am talking about is specifically the NT position.

Fred Robbins

If that’s 325, I’m a dainty Size 1.

I trust your opinion
I suppose if all of the stars, moons and planets align it could be possible, but what are the chances of that?
well, on my screen, he is two inches tall
so I can’t say, for sure, that he was tipping the scales at 350… but he sure seemed round and jolly!
He looks like a 15 month preggo sumo wrestler.

Muscle weighs more than fat
I would hope a starting DT on a championship team has quite a bit of muscle and the extra padding would add the rest of the poundage.
I have a Brother in law who weighs 450 lbs
Do you want him for a NT?
