Bleach Social: Where Are You Watching Texans-Raiders?

As always, I'll preface this post with a link to an explanation if you need it.

Your Houston Texans travel to Oakland this week to take on the Raiders, so no one's going to be watching at Reliant. Plus, we're treated to another late afternoon (3:05 p.m. CDT) start, which is always sweet.

Where will you and yours be watching the Texans attempt to go 3-1?

That Is Strong

Hope you have a helluva time.

I was thinking about that the other day. Would a Texans fan really get the crap kicked out of him for wearing Texans gear there? I mean, it’s not like we’re the Broncos…well, check that.

Looking forward to a day when being a Texans fan doesn't mean that April is the highlight of my season...

I went there with my brother-in-law who's a diehard Raiders fan

and had a great time. Raider fan isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be, lots of Oakland professional types. But it probably helped that I was with a few Raiders fans.

I think your right...

I don’t get excited about beating them, but I damn sure don’t wanna lose to them.

I wanted to be there...

I almost bought a quick flight up the coast and a ticket for this game as well. My wife has us going to Vegas for Texas/OU weekend, so Oakland is out of the question. Have fun and stay safe up there – cheer when necessary and don’t talk crap.

Watching the 1st Quarter

from the dressing room at the Wedding Venue. After that, I won’t even know what happened until someone tells me the final score. But like I said, I’m not accepting a loss on the day of my Wedding. Let’s get it done, fellas! 3-1!

Yeah, people are like "Why would you schedule it during the season!?!?!"

And there are many answers to that question.

1) The venue were getting Married at is seriously about half the price on a Sunday than a Saturday.
2) We had to pick the date to reserve the venue before the NFL schedule was released.
3) You don’t argue with an Irish Redhead chick when it comes to things pertaining to a Wedding…because they WILL kill you.

by Mike Kerns on Sep 30, 2010 11:13 AM CDT up reply actions

Agreed on all accounts

You just don’t fuck with women when it comes to their weddings. Society has placed far too much importance and pressure around the event for you to take any chances with her mental, and your physical, well being.

Got married last December

that was actually the easy part since we only had immediate family and did it in my parents backyard. The reception we threw 3 months later was a whole other story. I made the mistake/brilliant decision(really not sure) that I didn’t want a long engagement(I proposed on our 5th anniversary, figured there was no doubt), so I wanted to get married asap, and promised we would do a big wedding later. Then we decided to skip the big wedding, but where informed we know had to do the reception asap or no one would give a shit. Woops.

Sounds messy

We’re going the big honeymoon later. Didn’t want to take a gamble on going to the Caribbean during Hurricane season, so we’re just going to Galveston for a few days and waiting until next June to do The Bahamas.

by Mike Kerns on Sep 30, 2010 3:18 PM CDT up reply actions

I understand too.

How long are you planning on being married? And how many football Sundays will that include?

You seriously do not want to do anything that messes with The Wedding. I managed to (first and only time) fall down the stairs the week before my wedding. I found myself lying at the bottom of the stairs (all wood) in incredibly pain just giggling because I could tell nothing was broken and I hadn’t hurt my face.

Next day my (now) wife noticed me limping a bit. I tried to evade questions about it, but no use. I told her what happened. Sympathy? No. I was told that it was really fortunate I hadn’t broken a bone, or scarred my face, because in such a case I really might as well have died, because I’d only be briefly postponing being killed anyway.

Subsequent injuries after The Big Day have met with more reassuring responses.

in the good ol' USA this time

Last week I was in Italy, but luckily NFL.com was offering free one week trial of Game-Pass. So in leiu of finding a sports bar I got to watch it on my laptop in the hotel after dinner. Unfortunately I got it running just in time to see us implode after getting a 1st and goal on the 1. How sad is it that after I saw we didn’t get into the endzone on the prior play, I immediately got nervous about us botching the next series of downs like we’ve done so many times before?

I really hate Gus Johnson. It’s nothing personal, and I don’t think there is nothing wrong with getting excited while doing play by play, but this guy takes it to the extreme. Half the time he is so excited I can’t even understand his call. I’d rather just put on the radio and mute the TV than to hear him.

According to the local TV managers anyway.

Last season in fact, the last game of the season; it had playoff implications for the Texans as we all remember, win we have a chance (albeit a very small chance, but a chance none the less mind you) and what does the local affiliate show….bronco’s vs who the fuck cared because it had absolutely no playoff implications for either team.

Well of course I live in the hater city of Dallas, and for their “local” games this week they will be showing…

Redskins vs. Eagles…
Steelers vs. Ravens…
Panthers vs. Saints…

But of course the TEXANS aren’t local. Haters.

Unless somebody has a good website that shows the games online. I will be stuck watching stat updates.

Another reason I look forward to Cowboys Texans games is they have to show the game!

Head to a sports bar

There were about 20 Texans fans watching the Houston @ Washington game at the McKinney Avenue Tavern in Uptown a couple of weeks ago. Near the end of the game, the 5 skins fans had left and the entire bar was rooting for us.

Currently in an argument

So I am currently in an argument with a friend who is a Cowboy fan, about the NFL zoning for games. He was like its not Dallas’ fault that we can’t watch the Texans game we don’t do the zoning. But if you look at the zoning that TexansDC posted clearly whoever does the zoning assumes that Dallas and Oklahoma are the same. I pointed that out to him… think I pissed him off a little :) He is a HUGE Texas fan lol.
