Need a QB and Matt Aint Him...

If the Texans have made the call to talk to Matt Leinart.. then the Texans do have an interest. I personally think that is asking for a distraction. No matter what he says or does Leinart wants to be a number 1.. However Matt Schaub is the man in H-town. Sure Leinart is better than Orlousy and probably better than the Big Booty daddy... However what truly could provide the Texans with a safety net at QB isn't available unless we can make a possible trade. Are their any souces on-line that will list all the Qb's available? If so please post them here. If not list all the QB's that are free agents in this blog and as a group we can decide who are the top three choices and possibly put and keep those names out there until Smithiak makes a decision.... The alternative is to blow the best chances we have for making this a season to remember and prepare for the next FO and possibly another few years repeating history.. BRB Nation let your voices be heard...

I am not disagreeing, but

what then? Who’s out there? We have to do something to try and upgrade. And if you’re Leinart, don’t you want to collect a check and bide your time? I think his options are limited and he would deal w/ the backup status for the year anyway. After that he can go on his merry way.

However I would like to get a Veteran who likes being a back-up probably someone on his downside.. who is still and accurate passer and has solid leadership ability. Sage was my first choice.. I would even take a Charlie Batch. See I was discussing this morning that we kind of need a Tony Banks sorta guy. Banks filled in quite effectively for Carr in the other days. I looked at Chad Pennington too. Neither is available… That’s why I said I would like to know exactly who’s out there. Another idea is to look at the UFL… there are a couple of NFL Vets that moved over and they may be worth a look… I do know I really don’t want the baggage that Leinart will bring one year deal or not… if they make the deal I will grin and bear it.. However I am more afraid that if Schaub goes down…. Orlousy will put us in the 2003 season again.

Doin stuff so nasty that you have to do it twice to confirm the level of nasty!!

ok the Texans don't strike me as the types who go for drama

I’m hearing Leinart is a lazy bastard from USC — that he thinks he’s too good to learn the play book etc. That info is coming from a Booty fan that I know though.

I can envision the fun the media would have with a VY vs ML rematch between Texans and Titans. But I highly doubt that’s anywhere near the motivation for picking Leinart up (besides you’d have to be expecting something to happen to Schaub in time for those games against Tennessee — again not the MO for the Texans)

So maybe from the footage that Kubiak – the consummate QB coach — he’s decided that there is more potential in Leinart than there is in Booty? It’s possible. It may be a personality thing.

Maybe just like Bernard Pollard was a perfect fit for the Texans and just junk to Kansas City then Leinart might be a diamond in the rough to our coaching staff. Might be the one to boot Orlousy out or at least stand us in good stead until we can get a 3rd string QB to our liking?

My friend, the JD Booty fan, was also wishing we could have gotten the Rosencopter back instead of picking up that slacker Leinart. It’s hard to tell if my friend is just a rabid anti USC fan though;-) or if he’s right.

Since USC gave us Cushing, I tend to forgive USC a little bit more =D.

oh and TEXSON, curse you for making me think you were daring to hint that you meant Matt Schaub when you said Matt in the title of this. <3
